Game 4 ratings dreadful

Postby Lakers Dynasty 2000 on Thu Jun 12, 2003 1:19 pm

The ratings are getting worse every game. This is the lowest they have been out of the 4 games so far.

Abc came in 3rd behind nbc and cbs.Abc scored a 5.7/10 with its finals coverage.

I guess this formula is in effect......

NO KOBE AND SHAQ = NO RATINGS

Kidd and Duncan are superstars in their own right, but they just don't capture the non-NBA fans like Kobe and Shaq. Kidd and Duncan can't captivate the public like our dynamic duo.

Despite how much the Nets struggled shooting, I still love watching Kidd and the Nets... Even last year I liked the Nets, if it were any other team (Magic, Hornets, Celtics) I probably wouldn't be into it as much... But I do like the Nets and how Kidd and K-Mart, and J-Rich run the floor...

Hope It worsens on and the NBA learns a lesson, call the games evenly, and the Lakers will be in da Finals, and youre ratings will go up, instead of being stupid and unfair.

I think Mike is right on with that uninspiring comment. Although the Spurs and the Nets are good teams, they don't have the showmanship that the lakers have. Hell, thwe Laker Haters would watch hoping that whoever the Lakers played against would beat them. Everyone had a stake in the Lakers finals. Face it, these two teams just aren't fun to watch. they do nothing spectacular. In fact, in the last game neither team broke 80 points! I don't even think Spurs and Nets fans are watching this.

Sterling,
Good point on the Laker haters being bored this FINALS. Another point to consider is that ABC is also doing a horrible job with their coverage. Too much hype, no substance in the presentation. I wish NBC still had the coverage.

Oh yeah......Walton and Tolbert suxx!!!!!

Yeah, its boring as hell.
And I hope the refs learn a lesson to actually call the foul when they see one, and please not be biased.
We all Know who should be in da finals this year, but we arent and it aint our fault, cuzz next year I am sure Lakers will be back in it again and ratings will zoom! as the dynasty lives on! :jam2: Go Lakers!

I think the ratings were low because of Bill Walton and No game Tom Tolbert. They suck as commentators.

thanks kobe1
well spurfanatic bill walton and tom tolbert were commentattors last year too so if they were to go down for that reason the ratings would have been down long ago.
And when excitement (Lakers) are in da finals, bout 70% of the people that are part of the high ratings are rooting for teh Lakers, and the 30% are the people dying to dethrone the REAL CHAMPIONS
there was no real champion in the playoffs this year after may 15. but i bet yall anything teh lakers will be back in da finals next year en route to the 4 in 5 DYNASTY. go lakers! 2004 champions!!!!!!!

But if I remember correctly, I don't think Tolbert and Walton did any games together.... I know there's like 3 people per game, but I dont remember hearin them together... Either that, or I had the tv muted... lol... But now since the games are on ABC/ESPN network, they have been goin down... I think it's because of a popularity contest. Sure we have a popular team and all, but mostly it was cuz of that, that's what I feel. And because of the late quarter comebacks, and the rollarcoaster turn of events that the Lakers squad brought. Sure we do have bandwagoned fans, just like any other team, but because we were the 3 time defendin champs, more and more people jumped on. The ratings to me really dont matter, cuz it's pure basketball, whether it's borin to watch or to hear, those 2 teams made it. Would u rather see an un organized game of ball like an And 1 mix tape? Sure it would be more fun and excitin to watch, but it's not organized, and it's not what NBA ball is about.

Who gives a damn about ratings. Are Nielsens ratings always correct. It is like any poll, it has room for error. Check out the Ratings for San Antonio the last three years. We don't have as many TV's as LA, however the ratings for the finals were pretty bad. This year they jumped up. Why because our beloved Spurs were there. I need to register here because LA fans need to have some Spur blood in here. It helps keep everyone honest. If there were only LA fans in here --- Well then I can't even tell what would happen. Ya'll hang in there.

We want u to register cuz it adds diversity to the board... Not cuz ur a fan of a certain team, but a fan of another team... We have fans from other teams who registered here, and have a lot to say, like u... which is a positive thing... But ur right about the ratings... It's like givin stars to movie ratings, and it's all just based on opinions... which is true...
