Seriously. That guy is a tool. His entire Twitter is pretty much making up stories that seem like they might be possible based off of reports from legitimate sources. Then if that made-up story ends up coming to fruition (which it hasn't yet), he'll get a bunch of followers and popularity. If the made-up story ends up being BS (which it has been in every single case), he'll claim that whatever he said was close but something else came up to prevent it.

He confirmed that the Lakers had worked out a re-structured deal for CP3 after the veto and Stern had approved it. At the time, this didn't seem ridiculous because other reports were that we were trying to re-work the trade. When it didn't happen, he said his source had lied to him or some BS like that.

So any updates? or is Gilbert not happening.
Every time I begin to ask, "Is he really as great as I think he is?" ...He proves that he is.

Hey let's give the middle finger to Beasley, while signing Arenas in his place.

Lakers still in mix for Arenas?

UPDATE Updating this item from earlier in the month, it sounding like the Lakers could have some renewed interest in Arenas.

From ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard: "I'm told the Lakers may sign Arenas after the all-star break (now) or the trade deadline. Arenas, according to a source, was 'explosive' and 'had his athleticism back' during his recent workout with the Lakers."

I'm so annoyed with all of this. Wallace, Arenas, Hinrich, Beasley, Dwight, Rondo. Sick of this crap. The Lakers are so secretive (which really is a good thing, but annoying to us fans). I can't wait till the 15th when we have a set roster.

I thought if they were going to sign Arenas, they'd want to see how he performs with this current team. I don't see why the Lakers would wait so late to sign him, barely get any idea of what he can actually do with this team, and then proceed to make trades (or not make trades). I guess I just don't see him coming here.

Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated wrote:Memo to NBA fans in the Orlando area: Find Gilbert Arenas at your local YMCA and get back to me with a scouting report, or even some YouTube material.

The 30-year-old guard who was amnestied by the Magic in mid-December continues to dominate the rec league ranks, informing me via text message that he scored 42 points on Thursday night -- in the fourth quarter alone. Arenas, who explained his situation at length in our recent interview, always envisioned a post-All-Star break return. The Lakers worked him out on Feb. 29 in Los Angeles and could still sign him. The trade deadline could be coming into play here, as teams likely want to preserve maximum flexibility until no more moves can be made.

I think we're signing Arenas. He worked out for us & didn't keep trying to land on other teams. I bet he was told go play as much as you can to get in shape because you'll be signed by the deadline. I think it would be smart of us to sign him soon though. If he comes in & starts playing well @ PG he could provide leverage so the Sessions & Feltons of the world aren't so valuable to us & we can land one of them for a 2nd.

Do the Sessions/Eyenga for Walton/Kapono and Fish for Hill trades open up the possibility of Gilbert Arenas coming in as our primary bench scorer/shooter off the bench? Goudelock is making progress but probably want a vet for a deep playoff run. Especially with Fish out of the fray.

I'd like to see us sign Arenas if for no other reason than to keep Kobe's minutes to under 48 a game. :freak2:

Yep, if he can provide around 6-10ppg in limited minutes as Kobe's back up and he's more than worth it IMO, and if he still has anything left in the tank then thats not unreasonable at all.

Against some teams (Clippers for example) Arenas could play the 2 while Kobe plays the 3, keeping Sessions or Blake on the floor and giving us 3 shooters on the perimeter. This would be a great move.

As presently constituted, the team definitely improved with at the deadline by acquiring a penetrating PG and a backup center, but our 3pt deficiencies suddenly become even more glaring. I sincerely hope Arenas or another shooter is on the horizon since we still have empty roster space and there is no way that we are allowing Morris or Eyenga to crack the lineup anyway.

Here's what I said in the "15th Roster Spot" thread:

I think people are too in love with Arenas's name. Last we saw him he was D-U-N. Maybe he's feeling better physically these days, but I'd rather give Goudelock those minutes personally. The guy might hit the rookie wall soon, but for now I like what he brings in those 8-10 minutes per game.
Every time you want to unload on CL about how terrible our Ownership/Front Office is, I want you to step back, take a deep breath and read THIS.

As the third guard and off the bench spark shooter, I don't mind Arenas. He wouldn't be starting and as a jasonterry spark he's perfect

My interest really stems from the reports that he was in shape and explosive when he did his workout for the Lakers. Admittedly, maybe it's because of Phil, but I dont put too much faith in inexperienced players come playoff time. Arenas may not have much playoff success in his career so far, but Id probably trust him more than Glock (assuming he's healthy and had some time in our system, ofcourse).

Glock's played well enough that I wouldn't mind seeing him out there though, but Id still like to see Gil get a shot if indeed he's in shape.

Before we roll the dice on Arenas I'd like to wait about a week or so and see if any notable players get bought out.
