Good discussion from ATH: Is Pippen still Top 50 ever?

I'm not sure anymore, alot of great players have come by since then, (Kobe, Duncan, KG, AI, etc.) and when it came out he must have been #50 on the list.
"Sitting in the house, I'm loadin' up the pump. I'm loadin' up the Uzi. I got a couple M-16s, a couple 9s. I got a couple joints with some silencers on them. I'm just loading clips, a couple grenades. I got a missile launcher with a couple of missiles. I'm ready for war." - Kevin Garnett

In my mind, he never was a top 50 player. He did NOTHING without Jordan and didn't do anything with the Rockets or Blazers either. The Blazers brought him in to put them over the top, and he averaged about 12 points per game while he was there. Doesn't sound like a great player to me! What did him in in my mind was when he took himself out of the game in the playoffs vs. NY because Kukoc was chosen to take the last shot instead of his crybaby [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.]. Take him off the list and put a deserving player like Dominique Wilkins on it instead.

Pippen was a good role player, and that's about it. Without MJ he was basically worthless... He couldn't handle bein on the Rockets, and on the Blazers. He's a good player, but he's not an MJ type player. He isn't what a team needs to be built around. I'd be considered a top 50 canadate prolly like 10 years ago...

Well guys, he is undoubtfully one of 50
those are the numbers ( no Jordan as you said ):
93-94 : RPG 8.70 APG : 5.6 SPG : 2.93 BPG : 0.81 PPG 22.0
94-95 : RPG 8.10 APG : 5.2 SPG : 2.94 BPG : 1.13 PPG 21.4
and in Portland he was actually a PG ( about 6 RPG 12 PPG 4.5 APG )! - they would win if not for Lakers and some Rasheedish behavior of that team.
And he is not 25 anymore ( nor he was at Portland )!
Role player?!?!? Come on - you sjould know better, he led them to playoffs when Jordan was gone! ( they had like nobody there! )

He could be posting those numbers ( as in 1993-95 ) without MJ consistently - and he is a great defensive player! So it looks like Hall of Fame and 50 greats to me
