Heat Unleashing 'Pace-And-Space' Offense

Heat Unleashing 'Pace-And-Space' Offense

Erik Spoelstra met with Oregon's football coach Chip Kelly two summers ago and the two discussed a fast paced offense centered around athleticism and speed. Spoelstra called the offense "pace-and-space".

The Miami Heat used that offense to great effect in Monday's 124-99 win over the Phoenix Suns.

The Heat went 15-for-26 on three-pointers and recorded 33 assists.

The idea is very similar to "Seven Seconds or Less".

“That was probably the most unselfish team I’ve ever played against since I’ve been in the NBA,” Dudley said. “It was drive, kick, swing, penetrate, flair -- I mean they were hitting everyone.

“That’s the way basketball is supposed to be played. They perfected it to a T.”

When the Big 3 first formed, the Heat played more of a halfcourt offense.

I saw last night's game vs Phoenix and boy do they look unstoppable. If I had to bet I'd sadly have to pick them to win it all again

Yeah... Dangerous team on both ends of the floor..

Unfortunately, Allen & Lewis were perfect additions to an already unstoppable team...

Heat's offense has looked unstoppable. I'm kind of surprised that their defense has been so bad though. It'll probably come around and end up being top 10 in the league though.

Last season, Spoelstra credited the Oregon Ducks college football offense where he thought of the idea and took the concepts.

They will be their biggest enemy this season ... I expect them to go on a losing streak sometimes this season due to boreness ... but it's going to be easy for them in the playoffs

Well they are the #1 ranked offense right now, but as a trade off they are the 2nd worst defensive team. They'll find a nice balance eventually and run over everyone in the East.

I guess "run and gun" is no longer politically correct......

It's like D'Antoni's Suns w/ Defense...

No surprise if they repeat.
