Highest vertical leap poll (current NBA players)

Postby mo' betta blue on Mon Nov 17, 2003 9:49 am

I remember some time ago that there was a preseason show where a host once speculated that Devean George had a higher vertical leap than Kobe. I could believe it because Devean can really reach the sky when he's going after rebounds. Does anyone know which player has the highest vertical leap? Devean, Kobe, Shawn Marion, Vince Carter are all high fly acts. It's amazing they can jump that high during the course of the game even with fatigue setting in.

You should have put Desmond Mason instead of Devean

Hi BDG and LakerGyrl. This poll is totally unscientific. Just based on observations and opinions. I dont see much of Desmond Mason, except on Laker games. So, I'm not familiar with the other NBA high fliers. There are a few of them that I left out. I was wondering if there are measured vertical leap stats on record. There are stats for weight, height, wingspan, etc.

It's all good. I think they do measure players' vertical leaps... I don't know where they have that info though.

If you haven't seen Desmond Mason's dunks, try and watch the Dunk Contest if you get a chance. He has some sick hops.

Oh yeah! He can LEAP... did you see the Dunk Contest where they measure his jump in mid-air?

Thanks for the tip. Good work on finding this site. I remember the short statured Spudd Webb dunk and win the All Star game dunking contest on one seaon. I think he was only 5' 7 or something. Anyways, it was an amazing sight for a shorty to dunk like that. Call it athletic ability.
