"I always said from the beginning that I wanted to be a Sixer until my career is over," Iverson said. "I always looked at and respected players like Magic [Johnson] and [Larry] Bird for being able to be with one team. That's the way I want to be."

OMG.... this is nice to hear... I thought Malone would end his career with the Jazz, but I guess winning a championship is the best opportunity.

yea seriously if iverson doesnt win in philly, look for him to do what Malone did. Or maybe a ring isnt that important to him.

Iverson is mah dawg but he wont be winning a ring any time soon in philly unless they get a dominant big man.

Well Iverson is what they have... He sells tickets and people pay for seats just to see him play. Just like Bron is gonna sell tickets for his team. Iverson is their franchise, and I'm surprised he didnt leave after Brown left... Even though he still has years on his contract, he should really consider the ultimate prize in the NBA. I just dont wanna see another player waste years, like Malone and GP to be such great players, without a championship.

Playing in the NBA is an honor... But winning a championship comes with the territory. That's what defines good players from championship players. Sure there are tons of good players who never went all the way, but the great players won championships, and those are all who define the game.

no

players dont win championships

teams do

a championship a team honor

MVP and whatnot are player honors

Mark Madsen has a few championships

as does Dickey Simpson and Samaki Walker

does that define them as championship players? :man7:

It's the quality of a player and the championship to go along with that that defines a great player :man7: :man7:

good point...

if there was never an MJ, we would have many other players with rings including Barkley, Ewing, even Payton and Malone. I jus felt bad for the NBA in the 90s when the bulls took over!

as far as players with or w/o championships, there are many great players without championships, like the ones ive listed above. Now suppose iverson, tracy mcgrady, and jason kidd NEVER win an NBA championship...will they still be great players? I think so. And what about KG? Will he ever win one? You see, many great players wont win it cuz they care too much about money...and they dont care about a ring. Malone and Payton showed alot of character by signing with the lakers cuz they wanna get that ring badly and go down as GREAT players!

MJ had that many rings in the 90's because he lead him team to the promise land, and he was the most dominant player in that era.
