Javaris Crittenton indicted on murder charges

Until somebody can prove me wrong, I'll forever believe that the incident between Crittenton and Gilbert Arenas in the locker room went down like this:

Crittenton and Arenas are not getting along, like countless of other teammates and colleagues around the US and the world. But when things escalate, Crittenton suggests busting a cap in Gilbert's tail.

Knowing Gilbert since 1st grade all the way through a senior in high school, and playing ball, getting along, and having a schoolyard scrap with Gilbert once or twice while also being friends for a while, Gilbert then responds "bust a cap? Oh please. You aren't doing a thing. I'll be right here in the locker room at 5pm on this day and time and you won't be doing a damn thing." At that point, Crittenton is serious about his wants to fight and he really does bring the piece at 5pm on this day and time. So Gil happened to have a dusty piece in his locker room, pulls it out too just to raise the stakes and they both got busted.

Only now, Gilbert is looking back like... "that dude seriously wants to be a G. Wow." And Gil will probably never pull those challenge stunts again.

He did it to me back in the 4th grade. I told him I'd smack him silly early on in the school day. He told me to prove it by smacking him silly after school. Next thing I know, we're smacking each other silly after school in front of all the girls. :man10:

I think he won the slapfest, like 10 slaps to about 2 or 3. His arms were long man, lllooonngg.I'm giving a true story, btw.

Gil brought 5 guns and left a note saying "choose 1". Crittendon said "no need. I got my own". That's when Gil crapped himself.

I am glad now the Lakers never signed him for summer league last year. He is trouble and his NBA career is over.

Probably after Crittenton made the threats.

Weird, but I just know Gil too much. Spent too too many years growing up and playing ball and fighting, and being friends, to believe otherwise. Gil ALWAYS responded to challenges by giving you the opportunity to prove yourself. It's actually a pretty dumb to live that way, but that's what he did. Hopefully the Crittenton thing was the last time he'll ever get himself involved with fools like that.

Gil never wanted to be a thug. Crittenton probably always wanted to be a thug. That's the difference between the two.

virtually every report on crittenton that i'd ever read prior to the arenas incident indicated that he wasn't interested in being a thug. teammates, current and former coaches, etc., all said he was a good kid, iirc.

i'm not saying i think he's innocent. as i said above, a one-way ticket across the country is hugely damning in my book. but i'd need to hear a lot more to believe that he's just been a gangster from day one.

Easily Smush.

Javaris helped us get Pau.

Smush helped to drive Kobe to demand a trade.

Javaris was a head case after leaving the Lakers.

Smush was a head case while with the Lakers.

Javaris never had the chance to prove himself while on the Lakers.

Smush did and he decided to waste it in spite of his talent.

Smush wins this one pretty easily.

I would say Parker as well since Javaris was a non-factor everywhere so it didn't matter... I always thought he would be out of the league at some point (but not expecting this way :disagree: ) ...

Smush proved that he could at least start on a bad team and look where he is now... :man10: :man10:

So where is the proof he did it?
Before long, someone recognized Phil Jackson sitting in the front seat, and then the rocks began to fly. Revelers pelted the bus and shook it, mocking the Lakers at their lowest moment.

It was painful,” Lakers forward Pau Gasol(notes) said. “It is a feeling that I want to keep in my mind for every single minute that I’m out there playing them.

Court hearing date set for former Wizards guard Crittenton

Posted Sep 27 2011 7:42AM

ATLANTA (AP) -- Former Washington Wizards basketball player Javaris Crittenton is expected to appear in court in Atlanta on a murder charge.

Crittenton is set for a hearing Tuesday on charges in the death of 22-year-old Julian Jones, who was killed in August during a drive-by shooting. Police have said the shots were aimed at someone walking with her.

Crittenton denies any involvement and his attorney said he will be exonerated.

Crittenton starred at Georgia Tech and then was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers as the 19th overall pick of the 2007. He pleaded guilty last year to a gun charge after a locker room altercation with Wizards teammate Gilbert Arenas.

Crittenton served a year of unsupervised probation.

Former NBA player Javaris Crittenton Indicted for Murder

Back in August 2011 former NBA player Javaris Crittenton — you remember him, the other guy from the Gilbert Arenas gun incident — was arrested for his ties to a drive-by shooting that killed a mother of four in Atlanta. He was released on bond but the case had yet to go to trial. (In the mean time, Crittenton was arrested on domestic abuse charges.)

Now Crittenton has been indicted on murder charges, according to a tweet from WSB television in Atlanta (hat tip to Robert Littal of BlackSportsOnline).

This is almost certainly for the same case. Police allege he pulled the trigger in the drive by but that the woman killed was an innocent bystander.

Crittenton was a first-round pick for the Lakers who looked promising in flashes but was traded in the Pau Gasol deal to Memphis. He didn’t catch on there and was next in Washington, where he and Arenas got in a verbal spat and brought guns into the locker room. Then got suspended for the rest of a season. Crittenton has not been back in the NBA since.

The season he was drafted by us, I won a random drawing contest here on CL for a rookie card for either Farmar, Bynum, or Critt, my choice. I chose Critt, because Bynum had shown me nothing, despite being a UCLA fan I didn't like Farmar much, and I saw the most potential in Critt. :man10: Wow how things have turned out, I thought that rookie card might end up cool if he had a good career, I guess that rookie card can be interesting for a different reason if he's convicted of murder.

^Read something to that effect about him a year ago... I thought he was a poor man's Baron Davis when the Lakers drafted him. Damn shame he let his life spiral out of control.

Report: Ex-NBA player Crittenton indicted on murder charges

Former NBA player Javaris Crittenton has been indicted on murder charges, according to WSBTV in Atlanta.

The indictment is in connection with the Aug. 19, 2011 fatal shooting of Julian Jones, a 22-year-old mother of four.

Atlanta police indicated that Jones was not the intended target, instead believing Crittenton was targeting a person who robbed him in April, 2011. Jones was shot in the leg and died during surgery.

Crittenton, 25, was a first-round pick of the Lakers in 2007 and also played for the Grizzlies and Wizards in three seasons. He's best known for a Wizards locker-room incident with Gilbert Arenas in which both players brought loaded guns to the arena as part of a gambling dispute.

Probably D-Wade. Von Wafer was the next Ray Allen.
