LAKERS WAIVE CHRIS DOUGLAS-ROBERTS AND GREG SOMOGYI

EL SEGUNDO - The Los Angeles Lakers have waived Chris Douglas-Roberts and Greg Somogyi, it was announced today.

Douglas-Roberts, a three-year NBA veteran out of the University of Memphis, was originally selected by the then-New Jersey Nets in the second round (40th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft. Douglas-Roberts has appeared in 155 NBA games (53 starts) for the Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks, recording career averages of 7.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 20.6 minutes. The 6-7 forward spent the 2011-12 season playing for Virtus Bologna of the Italian League, where he averaged 12.3 points and 3.0 rebounds in 27.0 minutes. Douglas-Roberts played in four preseason games for Los Angeles where he averaged 4.0 points and 0.8 rebounds in 8.3 minutes.

Somogyi, a 7-3 center out of UC Santa Barbara, played all four years for the Gauchos where he posted career averages of 3.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 12.2 minutes. In three preseason games with the Lakers, Somogyi averaged 1.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in 7.7 minutes.

The Lakers training camp roster now stands at 16 players.

CDR? Did they not see Howard's reaction to CDR's steal and putback a couple games ago? :bang:

I have a feeling they'll just absorb Clark's salary, waive him and keep Sacre, Glock and Morris. DJO might be a goner too he's barely played just like CDR

Two more Lakers waived (Chris Douglas-Roberts + Greg Somogyi). Three players fighting for one or two spots: Sacre, Johnson-Odom + Goudelock.

No room guys. He was going to play garbage minutes anyway.

Metta/Ebanks/Jamison
Kobe/Meeks/Ebanks

Sacre DESERVES to make the cut, and DJO would be a prospect to keep in D-league, and he seems to be a close to Dwight.

I'm shocked by the CDR cut. He has the potentially to be our best scorer off the bench. Especially with how Jamison has looked.

I'm pretty sure they want to keep Morris so he can be mentored by Nash...

Dammit dammit dammit. I wanted him far more than Goudelock. He was always working hard and doing his thing out there... yeah, Somogyi could have really helped this team...

Was listening to 710 and they said Morris only has a partially guaranteed contract, so there is hope he can be cut. :man1:

that's too bad. i really think, as someone mentioned, that CDR would be a great scoring contributor off the bench. i'm not sure devin ebanks is ready to be that guy just yet. might have made a mistake here imo...

Damn that is disappointing to read. CDR isn't a star, but IMO we're going to regret cutting him, he could have been a very good bench player for us. I believe some other team will pick him up now and I wish him well.

I'm not sure why they cut him. He can play.

He could have contributed way more then Morris/Blake/Duhon/Clark.....but they have guaranteed deals so they are pretty much a lock no matter what. :bang:

Can't believe we cut him and now have to roll forward with the garbage above.

Exactlyy why i hate coach brown. He can't recognize value of and he could have played this guy more and all would have seen his indispensable height, shot creation ability, and he's a str8 baller off the bench.

Youtube his 2nd year mix ... dude is sick to me

Remember when Smush Parker had 'the surgery' and changed his name to Candace then went on to dominate the WNBA? Dolores Morris should take the same route.

CDR deserved a shot on this team above Morris.
