Good point.

That would be the best outcome I can think of.

Dont ever minimize any person's problems. A problem is a problem. We should strive as human beings to be compassionate and want to support every single human being on this earth whose lost their way.

^^^ Ummm NO. Some people are flat out EVIL.

But to your point I don't think those types have lost their way.....they never had any redeeming qualities like Lamar in the first place.

^No one is evil. Theres nothing wrong with anyone, instead things have happened to them for them to turn out that way. When a person loses their way and there's a chance to rehabilitate them as in Lamars instance, then we should always show compassion. This is way beyond basketball, this is a man's life. Money can't buy you inner peace if you've been through a lot in life.

Yes there are evil people in the world for whatever reason and you are foolish to believe that not so. Not every thing can be fixed. I am not talking about Lamar, just your blanket statement.

I disagree with your outlook on people.

But I agree this case is more important than basketball which is why I think the Lakers are putting so much effort into helping Lamar.

I do agree that no one is evil. But people can become sick. Both physically and mentally. Some of it is their own doing. Some of it's not.

I don't agree that "there's nothing wrong with them". If you're sick, there's something wrong with you. No ands, ifs, or buts.

Sad end to his career, but hopefully not his life. At this point I fear he's going to join the club of all those other ex pro athletes who lost all their money and are saddled with debt and substance abuse problems. You don't wish for this stuff to happen to anyone, especially someone like Lamar. He seems like a genuine nice, good hearted person. We all know the kind of personal things he's had to deal with in his life. I hope he can somehow find the strength to overcome yet another obstacle and get himself straightened out, for himself and especially for his kids.

Just going to come in and say that Kobe8fan posted a youtube link but did not say he believes or doesn't believe it. Not sure how "thats cute" applies to his post.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Lamar Odom's alleged drug dealer told Radaronline.com that Odom spent $50,000 on cocaine over the last three years, and even smoked the drug before a game against the Knicks on Feb. 10.

The story was subsequently picked up and run by NESN on the heels of Odom's DUI arrest on Friday. He's hired Robert Shapiro to represent him, and while it's impossible to know if the newest allegations are true (especially considering the source), it's clear that Odom's NBA career is in jeopardy. "I know it for a fact because I sold him the stuff and saw him smoke it," the unnamed, alleged dealer said. "He spent about 16 grand." With the Lakers signing Shawne Williams and the Clippers picking up Antawn Jamison, we'd be very surprised to see Odom in an NBA jersey this season.

"alleged drug dealer"

Where there is smoke there is fire so something is up with LO but nobody but he knows 100%. There are drug tests for every NBA player and if they were abusing coke for 2 years, they'd get caught. Ask Birdman. I doubt this is the truth. My guess is prescription pills, painkillers, etc. Not sure if that stuff would register on a test. Maybe oxycontin which when smoked is the equivalent effect of smoking black tar heroin.

Lamar is one of my favorite players ever, hell, fav athletes ever so it's sad to just to sit here and try and assume what he's done and not done but IMO the crack is far fetched and the coke seems unlikely.

Lamar Odom has checked into drug and alcohol rehab center, report says

Former Lakers forward Lamar Odom has checked into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, according to People.com.

Odom, currently a free agent after a season with the Clippers, has been the subject a variety of recent rumors related to drug abuse. He was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence last Friday.

Odom played for the Lakers from 2004 to 2011, winning two titles with the team along with the NBA's sixth Man of the year award in 2011.

A well-liked fixture in the Lakers' locker room, a number of teammates and colleagues have recently expressed concern:

Odom, drafted by the Clippers in 1999 with the fourth overall pick, played with them until 2003, leaving for the Miami Heat as a restricted free agent.

The Lakers acquired Odom from the Heat as part of the Shaquille O'Neal blockbuster trade.

In the summer of 2011, the Lakers dealt Odom to the Dallas Mavericks, acquiring a trade exception that was later used to bring in Steve Nash from the Phoenix Suns.

Glad to hear he's taking the first steps into getting himself back on track. This time around I hope he sticks with the rehab and recovers, it would be awesome to see him make a comeback in the NBA.

The reality is that he has a significant problem..... One that's been with him for a long time and a 20 day treatment in a Scottsdale resort..err...rehab facility isn't going to change it. He didn't make the decision to do this.... It was made after his using became public. If HE really wanted to be clean he'd have been in treatment BEFORE getting caught driving under the influence.

I don't have patience for ANYBODY putting innocent lives in danger.... Regardless of where he played basketball. Just another over indulged celebrity going to rehab to lessen a future court ruling. He's got some personal issues and an obvious addiction..... Get off the reality TV crap and really take care of it.
