NEW YORK -- As a precautionary measure, forward LeBron James said he planned to have his knee checked out by a team doctor once the Heat arrived in Minneapolis on Sunday night.

While going for an alley-oop dunk in the third quarter of the Heat’s 99-93 victory over the Knicks, James was hit in the air by a defender and fell awkwardly to the court.

James appeared to hyperextend his left leg and then grabbed his knee. It was a scary moment for James, the Heat and NBA.

“I was concerned,” James said. “I’m still concerned a little bit.”

After testing out the leg, James shook off the pain and then made a jump shot seconds later.

James finished the game with 29 points, going 12 of 23 from the field. He also had 11 rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

“I was able to finish the game strong but things are always a little worse the next day,” James said. “We’ve got to fly to Minnesota, but I believe I’ll be in the lineup [Monday], though.”

James said he expects the knee to swell during the flight. Although James was little scared at the time of his injury, Chris Bosh said he was very concerned.

“He always does that stuff,” Bosh said. “He’s like Superman. We never expect him to get hurt. Fortunately, it wasn’t anything serious.”

That boy better not get a serious knee injury. The good thing about him is he is in amazing shape and almost never plays hurt so he doesn't have to worry about making it worse.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Like Phil used to say, every championship team is one major injury away from the end of the season.

He's as tough as nails, so he's probably ok.

Well if he didn't start you know ESPN would have a state of emergency and a 30 for 30 documentary lined up

He looked more than fine to me. I actually thought he was kinda milking it, ala Paul Pierce, making it look worse than it was, so then when he made a nice play it would have the "overcoming injury" effect..
His dunk at the end of the game (jumping with that left knee) was from barely 2-3 feet ahead of the FT line...

It actually looked like a "compression" injury to me. He came straight down and it didn't seem like a "twisting" injury. Those can result in the dreaded "bone bruise" and all of the associated issues that go with it.

Most mortals would be in recovery now and out for 9 to 12 months.....

Yea dude is fine but we all know if he has a bad series and doesn't show up that knee will be the first reason. Not saying by him but the media.
