Given his lack of quicks and athleticism, Walton is better for us as our 5th big to back up the 4 spot on nights when we're missing two of our bigs as was the case tonight with McBob and Murf both sitting this one out. As a backup 3 he's God awful. That said, keep in mind who we were playing tonight and the scrubs Walton was tasked with guarding. Also keep in mind that Luke had a stretch where he did such a doo doo job on his man that Frye and Dudley were grabbing boards. All in all I like what he did tonight. He hustled (this one was a shocker), moved the rock and (mostly) played within the offense. I'm cool with putbacks and whatnot but I'm sure everyone else was cringing like me whenever he tried to throw one up on his own. Yeesh.

Kobe - 48 points.

Luke - 6 points.

And we're giving him props. Man, how low can a guy get. Oh well, sell high! Do it Mitch!!!

This is the truth. He's now going to have 200 straight bad games before he has another good game.

I honestly didn't know he had a good game left in him. And by good game I mean not a bad game. As long as he doesn't play BAD and hurt us out there I can't complain because he won't play much, but he gave us offensive boards out there too and that honestly helped.

Can we trade him now ? More seriously when Luke can play he's not a bad option. I remember him doing a pretty good job on Lebron and he has always been good at getting offensive boards (wihout even jumping). His only problem is his salary in regards to how he contributes to this team success.

This is what Luke used to give us before the back problems or whatever it was dropped his level of play significantly. It was nice to see.

Luke had a good game, but I'm hoping Murphy and McBobs come back ASAP and that is an understatement.

To his credit he played well. I still let out a gasp of horror every time he shot the ball and he still looked slow as all hell, but he filled in for Murphy well last night. Hopefully he doesn't ever have to do it again, but he played well.

Same here... Concerning his mobility Walton will be a HUGE detriment in transition D which Brown preaches to no end. It is an aberration last night for him time wise but Murphy will be back and so will McRoberts eventually.

someone else who actually remembers or is willing to remember that Luke used to be a productive and useful member of the Lakers, before injury ruined his career. Hardly a career game for Luke as some are saying. Dude can play good ball when he is fit and when presented with opportunities for playing time.

the hate for Luke in general is pretty inordinate....i'm positive he doesn't try to have career-threatening, debilitating back problems that stop him from playing the game he clearly loves???
