Luke Walton: Legendary "Appreciation" Thread

Re: Luke Walton's Legendary Appreciation Thread

Would anyone actually notice if Luke wasn't sitting on our bench for a few games? I know I wouldn't, the thought "where is Luke?" would probably never occur to me.

No. I honestly don't know whether he's in uniform or not. It's like he's not on the team. But he still gets paid TONS of money. Well, hey... at least he has high BBQ, right? :man1:

Lakers vs. Hawks 2/14/2012

There was very little love in the building tonight as the Lakers narrowly beat the Hawks, 96-88. The game started out ugly as the Lakers, save for Andrew, shot horribly and trailed the Hawks by as much as 14 before halftime. However, the Lakers shooting heated up and the Hawks cooled off considerably as the Lakers pulled away late. Luke Walton contributed with a rousing pep talk to MWP, standing up from his perch on the bench as MWP hesitated behind the arc. Luke’s encouraging words gave MWP the strength to drain a clutch three pointer late in the game. While it may not show up on the box score…

Luke Walton: 0 minutes, 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 steals, 0 blocks, 0 fouls, 1 assist.

^ My thoughts about Luke are that he absolutely LOVES living in Manhattan Beach, and doesn't want to leave. However, he is like a teacher, who got tenured, and is just clocking in to pick up the paycheck, and "feed the family"(apologies to Latrell Sprewell).I honestly think he plans to retire after his contract is up, and has no plans but to "hang out" with his buddy Richard Jefferson, be involved in some charity events and speaking events(he is very big in helping the MS community, as I don't think many on here are aware of), and just hanging out by the beach, and smoking a little ganja.

Forget just basketball or pro sports in general, Luke has to be the most overpaid employee in any career field.

There are people who are more overpaid than Luke Walton.

Just pick a random CEO from a Fortune 500 company. Luke makes chump change compared to the 1%ers

I never blamed Mitch for the Luke contract...this was a PJax signing all the way from the start. Jackson sees alot of himself in Luke. a smart albeit talentless player. of course we are now paying for that "decision" without cap flexibility.

And it looks like Luke is finally gone with the Sessions trade. Thanks for all the hilarious times Luke. The one moment I'll never forget is when you scored 2 points for the Rockets by knocking a loose ball up off the backboard and into our hoop.

He was a good player for 2 or so years. Arguably our third best player from 04-06.

Deron Williams - “I hate ’em, you know,” he said the other day. “I hate the Lakers. They’re so good. I hate them because they win all the time. They’re a tough team. … We definitely talk about it. It’s not a secret. We hate the Lakers.”
