He would be a good addition IF.....

1.) We amnesty Ron
2.) We trade Pau for a SF that is actually worth starting in this league
3.) He signs for the minimum
4.) He stops getting injured before the playoffs
5.) He figures out how to make a layup

Any of those guys coming over here for vet min? I doubt it.

We also have the mini-MLE

I don't see us using that on one player unless Metta is amnestied.

It's strictly vet min for backup players.

I believe Mitch has already mentioned this.

Smoke screen? :man1:

If so, then it's working on me.

We're way over the lux tax threshold. Paying 3 mil to a backup doesn't make any sense.

Bring him back. At least he hustles and, especially with Metta likely to be gone, is not afraid to mix it up.

It makes sense to me if Kobe is out half the season. I think you pay Dorrell Wright 3 mil no problem if you know Kobe is going to be gone til December or longer, we will not survive with Meeks or Blake starting that long.

If that's the case, then why did the FO keep Meeks on the payroll? His 2nd year was an option that we could have declined.

I don't see Meeks a player who sits at the end of the bench.

3rd string when Kobe comes back, 2nd string while he's out I hope. He makes like a mil and a half, I don't think it's impossible for him to end up on the bench most of the time, at least I hope not. We could have gone cheaper (Glock), but I guess for some reason they believe in Meeks more, maybe because his 2 seasons before he came here were a bit better, 2 seasons ago a lot better actually, averaging 10.5 ppg on 43% shooting, 40% from 3. Maybe they are counting on Meeks to be our starter for a while and improve, but then who backs him up? Maybe they're just keeping the best players on the team, even for 3rd string or at the end of the bench, I dunno. I sure hope we go after a better backup or temp SG, or backup SF (or starting SF if they don't trade Pau for one) with the mini MLE thought, huge need for us.

Brad Turner ‏@BA_Turner 3s
The Clippers have called Matt Barnes' agent about him returning to the team, sources. Both sides working on a deal.

Sounds like he's staying.

Greatly overlooked but Matt is the one guy on the market who has been coached by Dantoni and Phil, as well as played with Nash, Kobe, Pau, and Dwight all. His familiarity and knowledge of them, the fact 1mil is a Pau increase, and his skill set and constant motion makes him a wise add.

Not that upset if he goes back to Clips.. I'd prefer most of the other wings we've shown interest in over him.

Matt didn't play under D'Antoni. He played for Terry Porter when he was in PHX.

I agree that he would be a nice addition at vet min.

Now with Clippers acquiring Reddick and Dudley, maybe we have a better shot signing him for vet min.

With the options I'm seeing that are actually available for what we can afford, I've changed my mind and now would probably be glad to sign him back.

Marc J Spears of Yahoo wrote:Barnes, who made $854,389 last season, plans to review all options now that the Clippers have acquired Redick and Dudley, a league source told Yahoo! Sports. Barnes, 33, has also received interest from Dallas, Brooklyn, San Antonio, the Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks, the source said.

With Caron Butler dealt to the Phoenix Suns and Grant Hill having retired, there appears to be time at the small forward position for Barnes to share with Dudley.
