Metta-Martin argument gets heated

Kenyon Martin and Metta World Peace got into a "heated" verbal argument during a Knicks workout prior to Sunday's game against the Pelicans, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

Metta World Peace

The two veteran forwards did not come to blows, but the back and forth was described as "intense" by one source with knowledge of the dust-up.

World Peace and Martin smoothed things over prior to the Knicks' 103-99 loss to the Pelicans on Sunday night, sources with knowledge of the situation said.

These dust-ups, of course, are typical of the frustration that surfaces when teams are losing. The Knicks have lost nine straight games and are tied with Milwaukee for the worst record in the Eastern Conference.

It is unclear what the argument stemmed from. It wasn't the only disagreement among Knicks teammates on Sunday.

MSG cameras showed Iman Shumpert yelling at Carmelo Anthony during a break in the game against the Pelicans.

Shumpert appeared to be upset at Anthony for a missed defensive assignment that led to a Ryan Anderson 3-pointer in the third quarter of the Knicks' loss.

Both Shumpert and Anthony downplayed the incident after the game.

Shumpert called it a "defensive miscommunication."

That would have been a pretty good fight, I give Metta the win, well because he's crazy and still consider him a Laker.

Kenyon has height/reach but I seriously doubt he can match strength with Artest. Plus you gotta factor in the crazy. I think Ron-Ron's form of crazy is more dangerous than Keyon's stutter.

Martin is a fake tough guy. His offenses in the league are mostly when guys have their back turned. Metta is a former boxer as a kid....was raised by a boxer and has no fear. He'd win by default as Martin would either wait for teammates to intervene to throw a punch ala Melo or just yell smack until he got smacked.

Remember before the season Knick fans were talking "championship" with this core? :man10:

If you guys think things are bad in Laker land... Well at least we don't have the worst record in the league(looking at you Knicks). It gets worse though, Denver owns the Knicks 2014 1st, and at this rate they have a shot at winning the lottery. Just brutal. Think Pau Gasol is bad eating up our cap space this year? Hell, at least he's expiring. STAT is currently making 21 million, and is due 23 next season on his 100 million dollar contract that the Knicks got a good 3 months or so out of. Why don't they just amnesty the guy? That would be a great idea, but the Knicks just had to shoot themselves in the foot by using their one-time amnesty use as soon as they could on Chauncey Billups, a guy who happened to be a solid vet for them, and even worse? a guy who was an expiring contract. These are moves that bad teams make. This isn't bad luck. The Knicks aren't cursed, they do this to themselves by making rushed, poor, and ill advised decisions. This is a team that has freaking JR Smith's brother of all people, taking up a roster spot.

The Knicks might be the worst run professional franchise in U.S. sports.

omg... I did not know that Billups was an expiring contract when NY amnestied him.

Hindsight is 20/20 but Amare had knee issues long before they signed him. I would think keeping the amnesty option around would be a smart idea. Wasn't Billups just going to retire if NY kept him anyway?

Denver taking their 2014 picks is just icing on the cake though... bravo, Knickerbockers.
