Michael Jordan target of a paternity suit

Postby Basketball Fan on Fri Mar 01, 2013 3:53 pm

Can't say I'm surprised given his past but I don't get why she would wait 16 years later to do this? I'm guessing the hush $$$ ran out and he wasn't going to pay anymore(if its true)

Michael Jordan has been sued by a woman who claims he fathered her 16-year-old son ... and she wants a paternity test to prove it.

Pamela Smith claims in her paternity suit -- filed February 6 in Fulton County, GA and obtained by TMZ -- she became pregnant after having sex with Jordan in 1995. Pamela gave birth to Grant Pierce Jay Jordan Reynolds -- aka Taj -- in June 1996. BTW, Jordan was married to Juanita Vanoy at the time he allegedly had sex with Smith.

Pamela says in her legal docs she welcomes a paternity test to prove Jordan's the dad. She wants full custody and child support. She also wants Jordan to pay the kid's medical expenses.

Pamela also wants the judge to make Jordan the boy's legal last name.

Yeah, what's wrong with Jay?!
If they make Jordan his legal last name -- he is going to be known as Grant Pierce Jay Jordan Reynolds Jordan. Horrible.

Michael Jordan
Alleged Love Child
BEGGED His Mom to Sue!

Exclusive
Michael Jordan's alleged baby mama never planned to file a paternity suit against the NBA legend -- until her son pleaded with her to make his famous (alleged) dad step up to the plate ... TMZ has learned.

As TMZ first reported, Pamela Smith is suing Michael for paternity and child support, claiming Jordan knocked her up back in 1995, while he was still married to Juanita Vanoy.

Sources close to Smith tell TMZ that she's always had a good relationship with Michael and doesn't need the money to support herself. But we're told her son -- Grant Reynolds (a.k.a Taj) -- desperately wants MJ to acknowledge him as his son, so HE begged his mom to file the docs.

We're told Pamela's intention was never to "call Michael out" -- the lawsuit is simply so her 16-year-old son can have his real (alleged) father be a bigger part of his life.

In fact, we're told Michael and Grant have met a few times over the years and Pamela claims Michael has given the family money and gifts here and there ... but Grant always had to keep it a secret.

Calls to MJ's rep were not returned..

Eeeek, so much money and he cheaps out on buying a box of condoms? I'm sure that would be cheaper than paying years of child support, and I agree with all of you on the names, why does a kid need so many? :freak2:

Right? He should just call Costco and see if they sell them in bulk, heck every NBA player should do that, better safe than sued for child support.

Michael Jordan doesn't need Maury Povich to tell him he's not the daddy, he says he knows it already ... and filed documents today requesting the paternity case filed against him be dismissed.

As TMZ first reported, Pamela Smith filed docs in Fulton County, GA in an attempt to establish the NBA legend as father of her son, Grant Pierce Jay Jordan Reynolds, aka Taj.

Jordan's lawyer filed to have the case dismissed today, saying paternity of the teen had already been established ... and #23 was not the father.

MJ's rep released a statement saying, "Public records show that the paternity of the child was established in a prior case in this same court many years ago and that Michael Jordan is not the father."

The statement continued, "It is unfortunate that well-known figures are the target of these kind of claims. Michael Jordan will vigorously defend himself and his reputation."

Taj posted a video on YouTube declaring MJ is his father. So far ... no update to that clip.

Paternity suit judge asked to order DNA test of Michael Jordan

ATLANTA (Reuters) - Lawyers for an Atlanta woman who says basketball legend Michael Jordan is the father of her 16-year-old son asked a judge Tuesday to order Jordan to immediately take a DNA test.
Pamela Smith, 48, filed a paternity suit against Jordan last month seeking child support. Jordan denies he is the father of the child and has also filed a counterclaim seeking sanctions against Smith for making false claims.
Smith acknowledged in a divorce proceeding that her now ex-husband is the father of the child, according to Jordan's lawyers.
"It is unfortunate that well known figures are the target of these kind of claims," Jordan's spokeswoman, Estee Portnoy, said in a statement.
However, Smith attorney Randy Kessler said Tuesday that a simple $300 (201 pounds) saliva test will prove or disprove the paternity question.
In a court filing Tuesday, Kessler asked Fulton County Superior Court Judge Wendy Shoob to order Jordan to submit to "immediate genetic testing." There was no immediate ruling from Shoob following a 20-minute hearing Tuesday in the judge's chambers, Kessler said.
"My son has the right to know who his father is," Smith told reporters after the hearing. "He has had an issue with it over the years."
If Jordan is ordered to pay child support it would only be for about two years until the 16-year-old graduates from high school, Kessler said.
"If this was about money, she would have filed suit 10 years ago," the attorney said.
Jordan's attorney, John Mayoue, declined to comment following Tuesday's hearing. Jordan himself did not attend the hearing.
Jordan, 50, is widely hailed as the best basketball player of all time and was a member of six NBA championship teams with the Chicago Bulls. He is majority owner of the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats team.

Michael Jordan's alleged baby mama believes the proof is in the puddin' ... so she wants the former NBA star take a DNA test STAT ... to prove he's the father of her kid.

Pamela Smith filed new legal docs this week in her ongoing paternity suit with Jordan asking a judge to force the b-baller to pony up some fluids or hairs ... or skin -- this after Jordan recently denied fathering her son, Grant Taj Reynolds ... born back in 1996.

In the docs, Pamela says she KNOWS Jordan's the dad because they had sex approx. 9 months before Grant's birth -- something she claims Jordan's NEVER denied -- and genetic testing will prove it resulted in the pregnancy.

As TMZ previously reported ... Jordan filed docs of his own earlier this month, DENYING he's the baby daddy -- and claimed paternity for the teenager was established YEARS ago in a previous case.

A judge has yet to rule.

MICHAEL JORDAN
Paternity War
CASE DISMISSED!
EXCLUSIVE
The woman suing Michael Jordan for paternity and child support -- claiming he fathered her 16-year-old son -- has dismissed her case against the NBA star ... but he might not be out of the woods yet.

TMZ has learned Pamela Smith has filed legal documents in Georgia asking the judge to dismiss her case against MJ -- and her request was granted without prejudice (meaning she can refile at a later time if she wants to).

It's unclear why Pamela wanted the case dismissed -- considering she had recently asked the court to order a DNA test ASAP.

It's possible MJ and Pamela reached some sort of settlement ... or agreed to halt legal action while they try to work things out. It's also possible she simply decided to walk away thinking she would lose in court. We simply don't know.

Either way, MJ has succeeded in taking the situation out of the public eye ... at least for now.

MICHAEL JORDAN
To Alleged Baby Mama...
I'm Coming After You!
EXCLUSIVEMichael Jordan isn't ready to call it quits with his alleged baby mama drama just yet ... in fact, he wants the lady who accused him of spawning her 16-year-old son to PAY UP for all the trouble she caused.

As TMZ first reported, Pamela Smith went after Jordan in court, claiming he knocked her up back in 1995, and asked a judge to order a DNA test to make the paternity official.

The NBA star called B.S. and denied the kid was his and then, rather suddenly, Pamela dismissed the suit without explanation.

Now MJ has filed new legal docs asking the case be kept open so he can file a counter-claim against Smith to cover his court costs and whatever other sanctions a judge deems necessary.

Revenge is a dish best served ... in court.

This chick is embarrassing herself(well more than usual)

MICHAEL JORDAN
Alleged Baby Mama Says...
I'm NOT Going Away
EXCLUSIVE
Michael Jordan's alleged baby mama vows to continue her fight to prove the greatest NBA player of all time is in deed the father of her child ... despite his legal attack on her.

As we previously reported Pamela Smith abruptly dropped her paternity lawsuit without explanation and Jordan immediately lashed out ... asking the judge to nail her with his attorneys' fees as well as sanctions.

Now Pamela's getting specific ... she did not drop the lawsuit because she's waving the white flag -- there was a technical legal problem with the docs and she plans on re-filing the paternity case STAT.

Pamela's technical legal problem is actually amusing ... before filing her case against Jordan, she forgot one little thing -- removing her ex-husband from the birth certificate which lists him as the daddy.

The boy at the center of all this is 16-year-old Grant "Taj" Reynolds ... an aspiring rapper.

At least he'll have something to write about.

Wow I kind of forgot this story but I feel bad for her son if he really did think Jordan was his father.

MICHAEL JORDAN
Alleged Baby Mama FINED
SHE'S A FAME [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.]
EXCLUSIVE

Michael Jordan's alleged baby mama LIED about the NBA star fathering her child in a desperate attempt to cash in on his fame ... and now there are consequences.

TMZ broke the story ... Pamela Smith filed a paternity suit against Jordan, claiming he was the father of her 17-year-old kid. She demanded a DNA test, full custody and child support. Jordan called B.S. -- and even asked the court to [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.] slap Smith for wasting his time.

On July 19th, Jordan got his wish when a judge hammered Pamela ... and here's why -- The judge says Pamela FAILED to mention that paternity was established way back in 2003 -- and M.J.'s NOT the daddy.

The judge called Pamela's bogus claim one big publicity stunt, pointing out she hired a publicist before even getting a lawyer ... and then dragged Michael through the mud.

The judge ordered Pamela to pay Jordan's legal bills -- $9,704.13. Actually, it sounds like she got off cheap.

At the time of birth she didn't know whether it was Grant's, Pierce's, Jay's or Jordan's baby.

But I guess she's certain it's Jordan now lol
