Mike Brown urged Cleveland to pick Anthony Bennett?

As bad as it is in New York, a far messier situation exists in Cleveland, where Chris Grant's tenure as GM is on shaky ground, league sources say. No. 1 pick Anthony Bennett, who has made exactly five baskets in 110 minutes, may well have been pushed on draft night by coach Mike Brown. But Cavs owner Dan Gilbert just hired Brown for a second tour of duty and committed $20 million to him. Brown's recent indictment of the entire roster -- "We didn't compete," he said after a demoralizing loss to the Wizards on Wednesday night -- was awfully telling. We know Kyrie Irving is talented, but now we'll find out if he can be a leader, too. Right now, there doesn't appear to be one of those on the roster that Grant has assembled.

Cleveland is such a crap organization. There's not a chance in hell LeBron wants to go back there.

It's pretty crazy to think about how many people would run that organization better than the billionaire that does now. Just crazy. I'd pick probably 10 people off of just this website before I'd put Gilbert in charge.

Mike Brown should be coaching college ball. I don't think NBA ballers respect him, especially given the way his last two stints have gone.

Hes the last guy I would listen too if I were drafting. He often doesn't even place his own players in their natural position.

Good.

Kyrie, come on down... :man1:
Pau Gasol yesterday morning when asked about Dwight Howard: "I haven't called. Calls are expensive."

If this leads to us getting Kyrie, i'll believe Mike is/was our secret agent :man9:. Must have been Mitch's plan :jam2: :man12:.

I sincerely doubt it was Brown's call or that he was the main driver behind drafting Bennett.

I think it's far more likely that he's being made the scapegoat on what looks like a terrible pick at #1.

I don't remember seeing Bennett play in college at all, and I don't remember why he was the #1 pick. Was it because Noel was so badly injured/doesn't have an NBA body yet? I guess what I'm asking is, is it too soon to call Bennett a bust, and why was he picked #1 if he is this bad?

maybe because he played at UNLV which is a program that doesn't get much media atttention. i assume the reason they passed on noel was because of the injuries and i think it's way too soon to call him a bust

but he has looked god awful out there and the other night the cavs fans started booing him after he airballed a shot. so it's not looking good at all so far

Even Kyrie looks like a mess playing in Potato's "system".
