Miles to Knicks?

Miles to Knicks?

Postby Shaq Fan on Fri Jan 02, 2004 9:49 am

Man, Isiah is really changing this Knick team, next year, I think they will be top dog in the East.

Well anyway there is this rumor:

Knicks get:

Darius Miles
Diop
Wagner

Cavs get:

Ward
McDyess

Did anyone else hear of this?

I heard he was trying to get Miles, but the Cavs wanted to much in return. So I guess he will see what his other options are before he goes back to the Cav deal

But that deal you said isn't what I heard and won't happen, he is saving McDyess to try and land Wallace or Artest (the bigger fish).

He won't waste McDyess on getting someone who has never lived up to his hype or potential, if he does get Miles it will be with Ward, Thomas, and someone (probably); and no one else besides Miles would be involved (unless needed for salary reasons).

He wouldn't want Wagner, he would be just another pg on a team filled with them

Good. In a couple years all of those overpaid players(travis knight, $4 mil a year) will all be gone. And with the Owner they have letting them use $80 million on payroll, if Thomas can dump all those players, he can really re-stock with some all star franchise players.

Keep Houston, everyone else is on the block.

Cleveland trades: SF Darius Miles (9.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.6 apg in 26.1 minutes)
SF Dajuan Wagner (9.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.6 apg in 26.1 minutes)
C DeSagana Diop (2.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 0.7 apg in 17.6 minutes)
Cleveland receives: PF Antonio McDyess (8.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.1 apg in 23.7 minutes)
PG Charlie Ward (8.4 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 4.8 apg in 23.4 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +4.4 ppg, +0.1 rpg, and +2.6 apg.

New York trades: PF Antonio McDyess (8.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.1 apg in 23.7 minutes)
PG Charlie Ward (8.4 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 4.8 apg in 23.4 minutes)
New York receives: SF Darius Miles (9.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.6 apg in 28 games)
SF Dajuan Wagner (9.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.6 apg in 28 games)
C DeSagana Diop (2.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 0.7 apg in 16 games)
Change in team outlook: -4.4 ppg, -0.1 rpg, and -2.6 apg.

TRADE DECLINED

Due to New York and Cleveland being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. New York and Cleveland had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did not happen here (only New York met the condition). This trade does not satisfy the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

you're way off bro..

Darius Miles, Dajuan Wagner and DeSagana Diop combine only to make a 28% salary ratio for the Cleveland Cavs....

on the other hand, Antonio McDyess already makes 44% of his entire team's salary, and Charlie Ward 20%....so thats already 68% salary ratio, thats why both have bloated contracts and this trade is defunct

On the other hand, New York could use this trade and so could Cleveland:

New York trades: PG Charlie Ward (8.4 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 4.8 apg in 23.4 minutes)
PF Antonio McDyess (8.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.1 apg in 23.7 minutes)
New York receives: SG Kedrick Brown (5.5 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.5 apg in 20.3 minutes)
SF Darius Miles (9.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.6 apg in 26.1 minutes)
C Zydrunas Illgauskas (14.4 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.5 apg in 30.4 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +12.7 ppg, +5.9 rpg, and -0.3 apg.

Cleveland trades: SG Kedrick Brown (5.5 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.5 apg in 20.3 minutes)
SF Darius Miles (9.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.6 apg in 26.1 minutes)
C Zydrunas Illgauskas (14.4 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.5 apg in 30.4 minutes)
Cleveland receives: PG Charlie Ward (8.4 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 4.8 apg in 33 games)
PF Antonio McDyess (8.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.1 apg in 16 games)
Change in team outlook: -12.7 ppg, -5.9 rpg, and +0.3 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

But I think that wouldn't even be thought about until after Thomas knows for sure he can't get Artest (& ?) or Sheed (& ?) for McDyess and Ward (and perhaps Lampe or someone)

If jorker's trade happened, I think the staters would look more like this:

Deke
Ilgauskas
Van Horn
Houston
Norris

6th man: Miles

Norris won't be there, Thomas is trying to package him in one of the many deals he is trying to pull

Yeah, but it didn't happen yet. All I said if jorker's deal happened, but if Norris goes Williams probably will be the starter unless a deal involves Tinsley.

plus Deke would need to come off the bench, because if they are planning on getting rid of Kurt Thomas and McDyess, then they would need a good big man off the bench...and Deke can fill that role

not if they keep Lampe. Maybe Thomas will stay.

Lampe won't be their 2nd string center, he hasn't played at all this season and probably won't see any time this year. They got him for one reason...the future.

And if Thomas pulls any deals, and wants something good in return, then both McDyess and Kurt Thomas will be gone (maybe not in the same deal), but they will be gone. A package that they have been offering to a lot of teams and have gotten some interest in is-K. Thomas and Ward.

Also, Deke and Ilgauskas are built as centers, one being a pf would make the team worse, because they are not used to that and have probably never played 1 minute at pf in their entire life

thatd be an awesome trade for the knicks. I like the knicks after isiah came, cus he the man. Neways, wagner would be their slashing scorer they lost in spree, cus he can drive and cross over a lota people. Besides, they have too many power forwards, and mcdyess i think is not good ofr ther long term situation
