DUNCAN DID NOT DESSERVE NBA REGUALRE SEASON 2003 MVP!
HE WAS JUST BEING HIMSELF
UNLIKE THE OTHER 3 CANDIDATES THAT TOOK OVER WHEN NEEDED.....
I MENA ITS NOT LIKE HE HAD A STREAK........OF 9 STRAIGHT 40 POINT GAMES (KOBE)
ITS NOT LIKE HE LED THE LEAD IN DOUBLE DOUBLE S AND TRIPLE DOUBLES (GARNETT)
ADN ITS NOT LIkE HE LED THE LEAGUE IN SCORING (TMAC)
HE JSUT WASNTLIKE SPECIAL ENOUGH TO BE 'THE ONE'.

SO WHY THE HECK DID HE GET IT?????????????

Yea Duncan doesn't deserve it, definitely a candidate but not a true MVP. He's had plently of help in Parker, Ginobuli, Rose, Bowen, and Jackson. Even though I would have looved to see Kobe get the award, in my heart I truly thought KG deserved it.

Kevin Garnett got robbed, and I think it had to do with them getting beat in the first round again. Duncan may have deserved it last year (though I would have picked Paul Pierce) but certainly not this year. Terrible!

I'll take the unpopular approach and completely agree with Duncan as MVP. He was my pick.

Kobe and Shaq will never get MVP playing on the same team with each other. Right or wrong, I dunno, but that's the way it is. Shaq is too apathetic during the regular season and Kobe doesn't have a winning record when Shaq is on the bench. That's the East coast opinion, and that's what counts in the voting.

McGrady didn't win enough games and KG's Wolves had a better season, but didn't finish as strong as the Spurs. In fact KG finished up playing about .500 ball.

He's had plently of help in Parker, Ginobuli, Rose, Bowen, and Jackson.

I dunno, I don't see a ton of star qualities in any of those players. Duncan has role players just as Shaq and Kobe have theirs. Who is the Spurs' #2? Parker? All the more reason to consider Duncan MVP.

Every year in the playoffs we expose the Spurs for what they are... a one man team. As luck will have it we will have an opportunity to do it again.
Call it from Heaven Chick.

Kobe has roughly a 55% all-time clip with Shaq out, look it up. THIS SEASON he had a sub-.500 clip, but there is an asterisk the size of Shawn Kemp's [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.] (or Phil Mickelson's Tits) next to it....LOOK AT ALL THE INJURIES TO THE ALREADY MEDIOCRE PLAYERS. I counted every player but Fisher and Shaw as injured in some way in the first 15 games (according to all relevant news sources including the AP, ESPN, NBA.COM, LA Times, LA Daily News and the OC Register). I don't think that bodes too well for a team when they are already considered a shallow and vulnerable team WITH everyone, INCLUDING SHAQ, healthy!

I guess he won two MVP awards that he doesn't deserve. Remember last year, Kidd was robbed in winning the MVP.

Guys look at it as a blessing in disguise.

Kobe and Shaq will have to witness first hand Duncan receive the MVP trophy before the game, and that will just get them more mad than ever.

To be honest with you, Duncan just screwed himself and his team by winning the MVP. Same thing happened last year and they got put out by the Lakers in the second half.

Hey Red,

I don't know what idiots are doing the voting. This so called sportswriters are just overthinking the situation. Kobe had a season of a lifetime, filled with record breaking memories.
WHAT DOES KOBE HAVE TO DO TO WIN THE AWARD?
IT LOOKS LIKE HE HAS TO AVERAGE 60 POINTS A SEASON, THE WAY THEY ROBBED HIM OF THE TERRIFIC SEASON HE HAD THIS YEAR.

Kobe had an incredible season! However, we all know that Kobe is going to lose votes because he has Shaq. Now, I'm not saying that is reasonable, I'm just saying that's the way things are. Since the Lakers started 11-19, and 3-9 without the Big Fella, the rest of the league said Kobe couldn't do it by himself. Really? Do they really think that? I don't think there's any argument that without Kobe the Lakers would have never arrived at the 5th seed. I mean, he set records left and right all season long. He averaged 30.01 ppg this season and averaged over 40 ppg in February.... something no one has done since Elgin Baylor. He had 25 or more points in 14 straight games, and 40 or more in 9 straight. He had more 40 and more 50 point games this year than any other player. He set an NBA record in consecutive threes made in a game without a miss and 12 threes in a single game. The guy isn't even a three point shooter!!! He was the youngest player to ever reach 10,000 points. He led the league in triple doubles until the last couple of weeks of the season. He scored 52 points against the Rockets and Yao Ming on a leg he could barely walk on. Granted, the Lakers didn't start out very well, but Kobe had next to no help from the rest of the team. No player can do it all on his own, no matter how great he is. I don't know if Kobe will ever get his props until he plays on his own (without Shaq). If you're not going to give the MVP to Kobe, I think KG should have had it. He was the only one who had more triple doubles than Kobe. He had more double doubles in the league than any other player with Tim Duncan the closest with 10 fewer. KG also led his team to their first homecourt advantage seed ever. Yes, he may have lost in the first round again, but the vots were in before then. Duncan is very important to his team, but so are KG and Kobe. I don't really think Duncan should have won the MVP award last year; it should have gone to Jason Kidd just as Shaq said when the Lakers won the championship in New Jersey. But here we are again with Duncan winning it. Maybe the rest of the league doesn't feel that Duncan gets enough recognition during the regular season because he doesn't make flashy moves that make highlight films and thus they want to give him MVP now. I don't want to knock what Duncan has done in this league, but I don't think he should have won it this year either.

Tim Duncan is DEFINATELY worthy of an MVP award, don't get me wrong. He does almost everything well and he does lead his team effectively. He has had an excellent season and is team was the best in the league for the regular season. I just prefer Kobe and KG because I think they are more consistently effective when the game is on the line.

Duncan getting MVP is the biggest BS I have seen. He's not the guy that you can compare or even put on an equal level with Michael Jordan...he's the first guy to get backtoback mvps since MJ did it. Give the award to KB and if not, KG. We all know who the real MVP of the season is.

Slava laughed at the suggestion his skills might be affected by the down time. "Are you kidding?" he said. "Basketball is like ball. It's all a circle."
