I think he got told the news. This has to be him saying he got amnestied right? It is Ron and he is crazy, so I wait for a more sane person to confirm.

I don't think that's him saying he was amnestied. :man10:

He's just weird. He did the same thing with oranges a few pages ago.

this guy was HORRIBLE last season, sure he brougth the effort every nite but so did Meeks. Only reason I'm not to thrilled bout this possible amensty is only because we have no other SF, if we did I'd wouldn't shed much tear for his departure.

“‘You know what he told me?’ his father said by phone. ‘He told me, if the Lakers amnesty him he’s going to retire.’ [...] Artest Sr. insists his son will hang it up if amnestied by the Lakers. ‘That’s what he say,’ he said. ‘If they give me amnesty I’m not going to play again. I’m going to retire.’

Cardozo High School coach Ron Naclerio, who is close with World Peace, said he doesn’t think the player will retire if amnestied. ‘I don’t see Ron going down like that,’ Naclerio said. ‘He loves the games, he’s lived the game and I don’t see him walking away this way. ‘He can still help the right team. His role could make the difference for a lot of teams.’”

I say if we managed to get back Lamar Odom for vet min then I hope Lakers keep Metta, just for the team chemistry purposes.

Kobe, Metta and Odom are such a good friends and close buddy's to each other, they like each other so well and their relationship is very close, so why would you want to break up this trio? :man9:

Metta's been hilarious on Twitter:

I'm changing my name to "Whole Foods Guacomole Dip"

he then had another tweet now deleted to change his name to "Occassional Maestros Butter Cake"

and then went on to tweet:

Ocassional Maestros Butter Cake for three!!!!!!

Marv Albert voice " Occasional Maestros Butter Cake is really shooting alot of bricks tonight" Mr.Butter Cake gets mad at the ref.

I heard someone on ESPN radio stating that it might make more sense for the Lakers to just keep MWP & then use their amnesty on Nash next year. That way they completely clear the books & have $0.00 of committed money in 2014...

can't amnesty nash. he was signed after the cba... you can only use the amnesty on contract before the new cba (me think)

LA needs to use the stretch provision after the season on Nash (which they can use) which would be 3.23 mil on the books in committed '14. There have been so much talking head confusion about the stretch provision v amnesty.

Yeah... I thought I had heard that Nash couldn't be amnestied. Guess not everyone is fully up on the new CBA yet... I sure as heck am not.

Lakers cant amnesty Nash, he was signed after the CBA was ratified. However, I heard there was a buyout situation that would only have 3.3 or 3.6 on the cap if they agreed on it next year.

Not a buyout. The stretch provision. It's not new, it was in the last CBA too.
They mutually agree (this is why its not often used) to part ways. Team pays out the full remaining salary but can stretch it out to two times the remaining years, plus one.

Nash - owed 9.7 that final year
Agree to part ways
Lakers stretch that 9.7 for 1 year into two times it plus one = 3 year
9.7 divided by 3 = 3.23
Means LA only has 3.23 cap hit on the books instead of 9.70 in summer '14
= 6.5 mill MORE to spend on Free Agency!

Kupchak on cutting Metta to save money: "“It’s tough to say goodbye to a player such as Metta, who has been a significant part of our team the past four seasons. For anyone who’s had the opportunity to get to know him, it’s impossible not to love him. He has made many contributions to this organization, both in his community work as well as in our games; perhaps no more so than in his clutch play in Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals in helping to lead us over the Celtics in one of the greatest playoff wins in Lakers history. We thank Metta for all his contributions and wish him the best of luck in the future."
