Thank you for 2010 Game 7: 20pts including the crucial 3 as well as 5 steals and the most memorable post-championship interview evaaahh!

You may have been a Laker just 4 season, but in my heart, you're a Laker for life. Cuz you helped beat Those Guys.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

It's really too bad...

I wish there'd been a way around this. Even considering everything that's happened the last two years.

But it had to happen. As much positive as he brought to the team, he also was an albatross. His defense has slipped precipitously, his offense was anemic, and he didn't rebound well for his size. His athleticism is nearly gone to boot.

I love him for everything he's done for us and for the fire and heart he played with every day, but it was time to part ways.

While it had to happen, it still doesn't change MWP's contributions in 2010 and that alone was worth it despite his current level of play.

Thank you MWP, you'll always be a Laker for your contributions.

Gotta miss Metta, but at the end of the day, his defense was even close to the level it was in 2010.

Thank you Metta, for the laughs and the hard work.

This is probably the biggest blow so far this off-season.

Yes... bigger than Dwights...

Teams in the Tax but under the Apron CAN receive players via sign-n-trade. It also has impact on luxury tax percentage I believe.

Sums up my reaction.

I'm very grateful for the good times, and I wish Ron the best of luck, but I'm not sad. Waiving him was the best business move, and it was also the best basketball move IMO. It sucks, but it is what it is.

Aaaaccckkk!! Sad to see him go. Some of the things he is still capable of doing we will miss. I hope he never gets to the point where he regrets auctioning off his 1 championship ring for the cause he was behind. That would be nice to have years from now. Best of luck Ron Ron. :jam2: :jam2: :jam2:

+1.

Game one was also memorable on account of the way Ron put Wheelchair on notice right from the outset.
It was like "there's a new (defensive) sheriff in town!"

Had Bynum been 100% for that series, we would have steamrolled the C-bags - it wouldn't have gone 7 games.

Really sad to see Ron go - and worried too. All our defensive toughness just walked out the door.

Seriously, I will really miss this guy, his personality, the swagger, heart and toughnes he brougt to the team. He provided many, many WTF moments as well but he was always able to offset them as far as I'm concerned. And if it wasn't for him, those guys would have one more, and we one less in the most important category...

That being said, Thank you for everything Ron, I wish you all the best and for me you will also always remain a Laker :jam2:

My favorite bonehead. He sure knew how to piss me off, but i'm forever grateful for his 2010 post season. His defense was incredible, his focus was there, and his toughness was contagious. He's one tough MFer and you know that's why Kobe loves the guy.

He had to go though. He can't play the small forward effectively full time anymore. He's a liability in transition, and the game is just too quick for guys like him.

I am sad that he is gone. I understand the decision, of course... Still, I consider MWP a true Laker. He cared about this team.

I think I've already posted in here but not since it became official.. Really going to miss this guy & I'll start by saying I hope he signs somewhere for 1 year & comes right back to spend his last 1-2 seasons in a Lakers jersey. Nothing you can say hasn't been mentioned in here.. the guy has had countless memorable moments as a Laker, some good some bad.. One of my favorite personalities in all of my years watching the Lakers.. He's always had his teammates backs & been a true Laker in every sense of the word..

I don't think he'll go 48 hours without getting bid on, but who knows, if anyone is unpredictable enough to retire it's Ron Ron. Maybe noone will call his bluff & he'll become a FA. As long as he doesn't play for Mia, OKC, LAC, Hou, Bos, I'll be happy. I'd like to see him go to Sac & try to talk some sense into Cousins.. They need a guy there that can step in when Cousins is having a meltdown & be able to control him.. Maybe he can help him learn to control it & begin grooming him for signing with us next summer :man1:

Metta World Peace just told @mcten and I that he has no desire to play in the NBA next season. Not for Knick, Nets, Clippers..no one #Lakers

Metta said his top desires are playing in China, working with a team as a player development coach, and playing arena football. #Lakers

Is Ron hinting retirement today? Get him a job with the Lakers organization as a player development coach, Phil. He can teach the young heads how to play man to man defense.

Never know what to believe with Ron, but that'd be awesome if we could get him to stick around in some type of coaching role this season & bring him back next year..
