For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

MWP would make most sense as the backup of Deandre. Lamar was essentially that last year as they moved Blake to 5, and that was their best defensive unit, LO and Blake. A guy like Jamison fits behind Bkake and playing next to Deandre when BG rests.

I'm going to start calling him that, from now on.

Thank you Metta. You gave it your all here, left everything on the floor. As a fan, you can't ask for more. Unlike others, you loved being on the Lakers. And the way he's handling this speaks volumes about his character. He understands it's a business, understands it from the Buss family's point of view. No drama, no animosity, no regrets. He's already looking to the future and excited about his next venture in life, even willing to come back to the Lakers in another capacity. Now that is a professional. That is how you handle your career.

MWP should go to a contender.... he has a lot to offer them and why would a non-contender even consider a guy like him at his age?

What is the rule again with a waived player? Teams under the cap have the first chance at him right? Then how does it work from there?

In other words, does MWP even have any choice about where he's going?

Teams under the cap have ,48 hours after the amnesty has been made official, to place a bid ( teams are not aware of the bids amounts of the "competition") ....

the player goes to the team which "bet" the most money ( this amount is the part of the 7 M salary the Lakers won't have to pay)

... if no bid has been made after 48 hours , Metta will become a free agent and sign with the team he wants

Teams under the cap have until Sunday 5pm E.T to " bid on Metta"

Was going to move this into NBA discussion since he got amnestied, but apparently he's retiring as a Laker, so it stays in LD :jam2:

Take note Dwight Howard! This is a guy who still laughed, joked around and had fun, but when it was time to be serious, he was serious, and didn't mess around. Ron will always be welcome and loved here in Los Angeles. Love the guy, and will seriously miss his "off the wall" comments.

Id still like to see us snag him as a player coach, more as a sentimental hire. I dont think he wants to retire though, I think he's just trying to scare off non-contenders from placing a bid.

If he isnt picked up in 2 hours he becomes unrestricted apparently. But then again League offices are closed on Saturdays and Sundays and we wont know the highest bidder until Monday.

Chris Broussard ‏@Chris_Broussard 8m
Source close to Metta just told me MWP definitely wants to play for Knicks. Clippers fairly distant 2nd, China 3rd

Sam Amick ‏@sam_amick 2m
On Metta World Peace: personal component (kids etc.) was coming into play in Clippers preference, but now hearing Knicks are again priority

I don't know who I trust/believe less, crazy Metta making different life plans every 5 minutes, or Chris "LeBRAWN JAYEMS" Broussard.
