We never really had much of a problem with them when we had Phil + a solid team. I think the Spurs are happy the Lakers are no longer in their way. We are the main reason why they never repeat as champions.

Plus I think Phil just knew how to stop their system. You have to be an extremely disciplined team to beat them.

Lakers only melted once against them, when they were spent in 03 after the threepeat.

In 04, Once Malone started punking Tony every time he entered the paint, Tony backed down and the series was over.

Timmy has 5 titles in 15 years, while Kobe has 5 in 11 years, with a threepeat and a back-to-back. Kobe's are still more impressive. It's more like Timmy is up for a lifetime achievement award.

Last year, I wrote that Giannis Antetokounmpo (@G_ante34) wasn't done growing. He was 6'9 and 190 lbs. at draft. Now? He's 6'11 and 217 lbs.

Haslem and Wade just opted-out. Looks like I was right, these dudes will take a paycut. Expecting Wade (and probably Bosh) to re-sign for something along the lines of a 4-year $60 million contract.

And now Bosh will also opt-out. They've obviously planned this. Could see it coming from a mile away, that big 3 would take a paycut.

Apparently Bosh wants a 5-year contract worth about $15-16 mill per year, that probably means a salary of $12-13 mill in the first year. If all 3 do that, they'll have $20-25 mill in cap space this year. Not good.

Apparently LeBron wants max, so that may lower their available cap space to $15-$20 mill. Still not good.

I dunno, even if the Heat get to the Finals again/Win another championship, I feel like the long-term legacy is permanently tainted after falling so spectacularly to SAS in the way that they did. Losing that series so badly had the retroactive effect of also reminding us that they *barely* won the 2013 series save for something of a miracle play. While they also lost their first Finals together pretty easily.

To the casual fan, the whole 'built vs. bought' line has stuck and the overall perception of the Heat has, I think taken a pretty serious knock that winning more championships won't likely change, especially if their tactic is to double down on even more stackage. Flash forward 10 years and I think we'll be looking back on these Heat teams with a bit of a laugh, highlighting an awkward and gaudy period of the NBA where we lost sight of what actually mattered -- the sport itself.
