I had high hopes for the Knicks to take out the Heat in the playoffs watching them play early on this season. They blew them out twice if I remember right. If they could somehow get back to whatever it was they were doing that allowed them to do that it would be fantastic, I'd love nothing more than to see the Heat taken out by the Knicks. The Knicks have players I like, players I respect, and a few I don't, but compared to the Heat I love the Knicks.

The Knicks gathered together the key parts of the failed Denver Nuggets team and expected different results with them being older.

Melo and Stat are not the leaders a team needs to get to a championship unfortunately. There are some character guys on that team as well and I'd rather have them make the finals than the Heat but I was never overly optimistic that it would happen.

The only realistic question mark at this point is whether the Knicks are going to win their 1st playoffs series or not since 2000

I disagree with your comments on Melo. While I will admit that STAT is hurt too often to prove to be a real leader, this season can be a game changer for Melo. If we can go from first round exit to ECF, it will do a lot for him as a leader. He's coming back tonight and says his knee feels like its "night and day", so if that's true, I think we can still do some damage with a healthy Melo. Whether STAT can be healthy for the playoffs but more important, effective, is another question and probably the x-factor to us being able to beat Miami in a 7-game series.

Then again, I'm a diehard Knicks fan, so that might just me backing my guys up, but I do think there is some truth in that.

No offense intended on the Melo comments..... I'm a die hard Lakers fan going back to the early 70's and I'm pretty sure Howard isn't the kind of player that will lead us anywhere either. Some guys have IT and some don't....... Melo has a history of checking out at the wrong time and he's had a lot more "cover" than he has now. He's a fantastic scorer and a great player but doesn't inspire anyone or elevate his game in the playoffs.

Kidd may be the reason NY gets where they get this year.

Fair enough, I guess that's why Melo came to New York. His only real shot to change his legacy from a great scorer with individual success to a great PLAYER with TEAM success.

Ok you lost some credibility when you say at the end that KIDD may be the reason the Knicks get anywhere ....he has literally been horrible since DECEMBER...the Knicks are only getting anywhere because of MELO. He has been a different player this year and I whole heartedly disagree with your statements about the Knicks...

First off, the main reason the Knicks have struggled since starting hot? INJURIES. They have literally had injuries to every single player on their team and to make matters worse, some of these players have gone down at the same time (Amare, Chandler, Melo). Look at it, Felton was out a month, AMare out for basically this whole year, Melo out for 1/6 of the year, Chandler probably gonna end up missing 15 games, Kidd out, Shumpert out for half the year, Rasheed Wallace out for the whole year (and if you watched any Knicks games, he was actually very key for that Knicks bench and played really), Kurt Thomas now out for the rest of the season....I mean the only player that has played almost every game is JR Smith.

I think if the Knicks can get healthy in time, they can make some noise. I think they are not gonna draw a favorable match up in the first round...ESP if they draw the BULLS (who have OWNED them this year). Crazy how 2-7 seeds in the EAST are all neck and neck right now. I think the Knicks have to get the 2 seed...if they drop any further than that, they will probably exit in the first round again.

^^You value stats over experience I see..... The facts are that most of their top players have all failed in pretty amazing fashion when the bright lights are on. A stabilizing influence like Kidd is a great thing to have.

Who was it that was most valuable in our first Kobe-Shaq championship?..... Harper and Shaw....

Melo has failed to get much better teams than this one, even when healthy, very far. It's not his scoring or his talent.... it's between the ears and his demeanor. If he's the one the team is counting on then it's another frustrating season for NY.... If they let a guy like Kidd lead then they have a chance when healthy.

If you want to keep taking shots at what I say and insinuating that I'm not "watching" then just put me on ignore.... that way we both won't waste our time....

I partly agree with FabFour that Melo has been a different player this year, but it hasn't been consistent. Part of that is nagging injuries, but he's shown a lot more leadership and defense. He's also shown his ability to pass the ball a lot more and trust his teammates. In the playoffs is when it'll matter, though.

I also think FabFour has a point about the injuries, even though I don't like using that as any type of excuse. But about Kidd, even though he has been terrible, he will be a big factor in how far we go. I don't think he will be as important as you explain, but he will definitely make a bigger impact than the stat sheet will show, that's for sure. Tyson Chandler as well.

Anthony will get his points come hell or high water. Kidd will try to balance and run the offense. THE biggest key for New York IMO is Chandler. His defensive energy, leadeship and experience through adversity holds everything together for the Knicks. All the accumulation of the small things that he does like setting picks, protecting the rim, communicating rotations and keeping possessions alive by constantly attacking the boards has a huge impact on their fortunes. For further reference, someone should check out how Dallas has fared since he left.

5-game winning streak with the Griz on deck tonight. Both teams without their starting centers but should be a great game nonetheless!

Nice win by New York last night over the Lakers' hated rivals... Considering how unsatisfactory our season has gone, I still take great pleasure in seeing THAT TEAM get beat.

Yes, too close, but still got the win indeed.

JR has been going to the hole a lot more and that's been key to his recent surge. Getting to the line a lot as a result as well, love seeing it. He just needs to harness that.

With the win tonight against the Bobcats, Knicks are on a 7-game winning streak. However, more notably is JR Smith's 3rd straight 30+ point game off the bench. Overall, during his two seasons with the Knicks, NY is 27-4 when JR shoots 50% or better from the field, as was the case tonight.

Knicks make easy work out of the Celtics, winning the season series for the first time in 9 years. 8 game winning streak with the Heat next in Miami, time to make a statement before the playoffs!

Didn't mean to insult you Roos...you know we usually agree on a lot of things. This was just one of them I really felt that you were wrong about...and still do.

With that being said, I think Melo deserves SOME credit for the Knicks late season turnaround...it was looking like the Knicks were going to collapse, with all the injuries and losses piling up....but Melo sucked it up (and he's playing hurt btw) and he's doing what he can out there for the Knicks. He's definitely a top 5 player this year in my book, and like I said before, IF the Knicks get the 2 seed, they have a shot at going pretty far (meaning they will lose to the HEAT in the ECF). That in itself would be a huge accomplishment for the Knicks.

Speaking of injuries, Kenyon Martin went down in the Celtics game....literally every single big man for the Knicks has gone down with an injury this year. They really need Chandler back now. They have a tough schedule to finish (with like 4 b2b's left).

Key, you think my bets are safe as far as Knicks finishing ahead of the Nets and finishing as a top 4 team?

I am pretty confident that your bets are safe. We're 4.5 up on the Nets, and while we have a much tougher upcoming schedule, I don't see the Nets winning enough and the Knicks losing enough for them to get past us. Even if that did happen, Knicks would most likely end up still being a Top 4 team, but like I said, I think the Atlantic Division is ours.

And on K-Mart, he should be fine, injury doesn't seem to be anything serious. I just hope Tyson can play tomorrow night against Miami.
