Official Kevin Love Watch

^^^ The pot. It's the cheapest and the best. Wondering when the league will let the players smoke dope? I mean, they're currently allowed to get hammered the night before a game, a little midnight tokin' never hurt no one, man.

If I'm GSW, I absolutely do Thompson/Lee/1st-rounder for Love/Martin. Curry and Love is mean. Get an excuse to finally start Harrison Barnes, who is just a soaking fountain of untapped potential. Curry/Iggy/Barnes/Love/Bogut. Bench might not be too strong, but that's instant contention for me, if Barnes can turn into the player most think he can turn into. A great 3rd option scorer.

Lawson and Love is a pretty good combo to build around. Kevin Martin is still pretty good as well. What are his choices to leave? A team with a number 7 pick in his second year and Kobe in his last surrounded by basically nothing?

I'm sure he may have wanted to play for the Lakers when he was at UCLA but then again that wasn't THIS Lakers now was it?

I still say that up to 25 million and a year means a whole lot. Now if he could go in FA to a team ready to go deep in the playoffs then I might see it but no team that is ready has cap space to sign him.

I may be in the minority, but I think Love and K. martin to GS for Lee and K. Thompson is a mistake ... for GS. Was GS even at full strength in the play-offs? Wasn't the center hurt? Hard to see how they peaked especially when apparently they didn't have the right coach.

Lee at least can post up. Does K. Love post up much? He hasn't the times I've watched him. Maybe I'm biased but despite the nice numbers he puts up, I just don't see K. Love as someone who should be the centerpiece on a championship team. Trading K. Thompson away and D. lee alters that team's on-court identity.

What they needed to do was firm up their defense, and find a decent back-ups for the center and PG. Last year's attempt to sign Deandre Jordan made a lot more sense.

I'm kind of surprised Jerry West wants to make this move (if he's the one pushing for it). Kind of a lateral move if you ask me.

^ I don't think he's the centerpiece, I think Curry is the #1 option. I don't think Thompson/Lee/Iggy/Bogut are 2nd options, but Love definitely is. Instead of having go-to guys, they have Curry, and everyone else. I think Curry-Love establishes a more firm identity, gives you two go-to guys, and yes, K Love can post, better than Lee. It's definitely not a lateral move, because it gives you the option to start Barnes which is a very interesting idea. If you get Martin, you can even make Iggy your 6th man.

Love to GS might be the move that makes them a favorite in the west. Bogut/Love/Iggy/Curry is pretty formidable.

You know what? I think I'm coming around to your line of thinking. I don't know if the trade makes GS formidable. But having assessed Klay's game more thoroughly, I tend to think that he's been over-rated a bit. Once I read the reaction from posters in another thread who were willing to part with the #7 pick for Klay, I took another look at his game. Nice player, but hardly a world beater. He probably won't be staying in Minny for very long. So the trade becomes, essentially, Lee for Love. If you are GS, you make that trade.

I don't know if Love makes them a favorite because he's really not a two-way player either (as Lee is not either) , but he can help spread the floor. I would think Harrison Barnes gets more burn to fill the void left by Klay's departure.

It's been said that Kerr and West are holding things up. Maybe they just want to keep to a minimum the assets they'd have to give up, e.g., they want to keep their first rounder.

Two NBA executives, when asked where they thought Minnesota star forward Kevin Love would end up, said the Los Angeles Lakers — even though Golden State appears to be the front-runners for his services.

Love to the Lakers will only happen if he goes public with a trade me there or I leave demand.

There are teams all over the place that can trade a whole lot more than we can for him barring some sort of miracle. Our best shot was Pau's expiring.....

My assumption if execs really did say that, is that they meant he will "end up" here in 2015 free agency, because I don't see how it's possible any other way.

I mean, against legit PF's, yes. Some C's are too tall or strong for him, but he's got a soft touch for a hook shot with either hand, can hit a turn around/fadeaway jumper. I think he can definitely improve in that area though.

I don't get that, but I guess that's why I'm not a GM. Still, seems to me Curry, Barnes, Iggy, Love, whoever is a very good team.

Some guy was on the Dan Patrick show this morning and they said Klay helps make up for all the defensive problems Curry creates AND he spaces the floor like almost no one else in the League. They value that extremely highly. Higher apparently than the boost you get from Love over Lee.

I honestly don't disagree with that too much either... Lee is a poor man's Love with an inside game instead of an outside game. Similar motor though, similar athleticism, similar nonexistent defense.

They better stick with that no.1 pick (although they suck at drafting). No star player will sign with them and if delt to Cle, he will bolt asap. :man9:

Think Love is going to be upset now that LBJ and Melo just became free agents? The league is scrambling for those fish in the pond. We all know few have a chance in hell but they all will be clamoring for the big fish.

Read a tweet today, forgot who it came from, but they said their sources in GS' front office told them they love Klay so much they wouldn't even do a Klay for Love straight up trade. He's that significant to them.

Apparently Logo was one of the people telling the Warriors NOT to let Klay go, but I doubt he would have said Love/Klay was a bad deal.

It's crazy how highly they value Klay. I think the kid is a great role player, but Love is a 3rd option. I'm not convinced Klay is that yet.

Whatever, just more opportunities for us to get Love. :jam2:

You think Love is a 3rd option? Why's that?

I thought Gasol was a number 2 when he came to us, I think Love is on par with Pau(compared to when we got Pau, to current Love) , different players/styles but unique skill sets that are match-up nightmares.
