JO's bizarre and unnecessary goaltend FTL in houston has implications for the lakers, imo. had houston lost that game, it widens the gap between them and gs, perhaps giving both teams less incentive to go all out in their games against la. instead, they're probably going to be in a dogfight for 6th (aka the right to avoid sa/okc and play an injured and imminently upsettable nuggets team) until the final day of the season.

Lol, Spurs start the game 14-0 and then practically gave up. Oh well, that Denver air is a dandy.

I'm surprised JO didn't smack the ish out of Hollins. Ain't nobody putting a choke hold on my teammate. And to do that for that long? :mad1:

Nate Robinson is just SO annoying. But he's playing well for the Bulls, can't deny that

He can come be annoying on this team. We need someone to come off the bench on the perimeter like him and just get buckets and go sit back down.

Bulls are playing tough D regardless of the countless injuries they have had for two seasons ...

The main weakness of Thibs imo is he's wearing his guys down by playing them so many minutes ( mainly Noah and Deng) ... tough to stay healthy by playing 40+ with this kind of intensity on D

Exactly ... I'm not sure Nate with the green light giver MDA would have resulted in good things though ...

He knows he's going out if he's playing dumb with Thibs

:man10:... OKC is on a good streak ... Westbrook play has been impressive lately

However their record against the top teams since March hasn't been good at all 3-6 against Denver , Floppers , SAS, Grizz and Knicks ( one pt win against a Melo less NY ) ... and being routed by Heat at home just before the ASG ...

I know it sounds cliche but they really are going to miss Harden playmaking and abilities to get to the line ( mostly on phantom calls) in the playoffs ...

The West playoffs are a tough read right now ... OKC HCA is a big plus but I'm not convinced from what I've seen in their "big" games ... they definetely won't beat the Heat this season if both meet again in the Finals

Oh sure KD is still getting his superstar calls ... fact is OKC is averaging more FTs a game than last season

but Martin game is just different than Harden one ... he can't take pressure off KD/Westbrook and playmake like Harden was... plus he's worse than Harden defensively so OKC may have to go with Thabo down the stretch in some situations

I know everyone expects the Thunder to walk on LA if/when they meet in the first round...

I can see us making it a series if we play the way we've been doing. Slow the game down. Move the ball through Kobe/Pau at the high post. Allow Dwight to make up for the defensive side of the ball. Team rebound.

We can win 2-3 games that way against them, especially in LA.

If Thunder start raining 3s on us...it's over. However, a lot of ppl are counting out the Lakers if they face OKC, and rightfully so...it definitely brings back memories of the Dallas/Lakers series in 2011....almost everybody had Lakers winning that series (we had HCA and Dallas just wasn't that good against us all year)...and we ended up getting swept. Not that we're gonna sweep the Thunder if we win....but all I'm saying is, stranger things have happened...

It really depends on how we finish the season though. If we have 3 convincing wins against these 3 playoff teams, I'll feel good about facing anyone in the playoffs.

Yeah here's the thing... to just MAKE the playoffs we have to beat 3 playoff teams in the West. That means logically we'll have to be playing some really fantastic basketball.

If that's the case, bring me anyone in the league and I think the Lakers can make a fight of it. Denver and Oklahoma are the two teams I'd want to face the least. Probably Denver more than Oklahoma. The Clippers pulling up the 3rd spot. But no team at that moment would terrify me.

But if we end up playing Oklahoma, I really think there's a chance we steal one of the first two games just because, like you said, everyone will expect us to keel. And if we can do that, then it's anybody's series from there.

Not me.. They are tough, obviously, but they don't really have experience, they lost Gallo, and they don't really hit 3s.
OKC scares me more, they match up perfectly against us on D, and their scoring firepower has unlimited potential. If they play somewhat smark and minize their mistakes, they shouldn't have much trouble beating us..
Consider:
-They've got inside defenders and post defenders (ibaka, perkins, collison)
-guys that can guard Kobe effectively in Thabo and KD, plus Westbrook whose athleticism can be bothersome
-3pt shooters (KD, Kmart, thabo, westbrook, jackson, fisher, even ibaka)
-inside scorers (KD, Westbrook, Ibaka)
-Role players that rebound, set screens, pass the ball and play D (Collison, Thabo, Ibaka, Perkins)
-Athleticism and youth (doesn't need explanation)
-a great home court in terms of fan support/loudness/officiating
-I can't remember the last time we beat them in OKC

We got to get to the playoffs first.... Denver is built to beat us. They have the advantage at most positions on the floor. Pau has been dominated for two years by Faried and Lawson owns whomever is playing against him. They are deep and as we saw last time we played them very well coached. While Howard should have the advantage Karl's schemes pretty much nullified him by using his aggressiveness on defense against us.... Not only are we at a disadvantage on the floor in a number of positions we're pretty far behind in coaching as well.....

^ yeah I think Kobe going down pretty much eliminates any chances we had.. he was the only guy who could create for himself, consistently demand double teams, and our go-to guy in the clutch. Nash isn't healthy and all the other guys, in different degrees, have been inconsistent.
I read on twitter that Kobe represented 33% of our offense.. I imagine that's even higher in the clutch

Norris Cole almost put up a triple double tonight. Miami's B team racks up another victory.

And they don't have a deep team. :freak2:
