bummer for him and them. bummer for people hoping to see some entertaining first round series in the east, too. if they miss the postseason,whomever takes their spot will probably be a much less interesting opponent for a top east seed, and if they don't, they don't scare anyone with bradley, terry, or barbosa as a starting point.

I don't like Boston at all, but i really really don't like when someone is injured....
So many torn ACL's past years, what's up with that... :man3:

So, I've had this pet theory about how the league has slowly evolved to change its rules to favor more slashing and attacking point guards as well as smaller ball all around. I'm not enough of an NBA historian to really delve deeply into the hypothesis, but I think it is fair to say just from looking around the league today and the types of players that get people most excited and that tend to be the highest draft picks most of them have been smalls, most of them have been guards and it has been that way for basically the last 10 years (with a few exceptions, like Lebron and Blake). While traditional centers are in short supply with many teams switching PFs for Cs to counter the change in pace.

If that is true, and the league has been moving to reward faster, raw athleticism, small guys rushing the paint etc, I can't help but wonder as well if there might not be some connection to that and an increase in injuries, specifically ACL injuries. Because it also seems as though every truly sensational guard has been hurt in serious to somewhat-serious all the way to season-ending ways, and I mean, then you have more traditional PGs like Nash or even Derek Fisher, who don't play that game and have had very long and mostly healthy careers.

I've never 'liked' Rondo as a competitor, he gets under your skin and makes you want to hate him, but he is an incredible player and it is always disappointing to see this happen to anyone. I think, he is still young enough that he should be able to bounce back after surgery and rehab and play well into the future, but that is a long road he has ahead of him now.

It's no secret that I've liked what Rondo brings as a total package. Tough news for him coming off back to back triple doubles and an average of a triple double in his last 4.

He's one of the rare players in todays game that elevates his game when it counts. So much is said about the "Top 5" in any given debate but for me performance when everyone else's collars are tight shows the player's character.

I hope he goes to Adrian Peterson's Dr...... seemed to work fairly well for him...

This may be a blessing in disguise for them. They were stinking it up with him in the lineup anyway. They have a chance to pick up something in the lottery to help them next season.

Imo they will trade pierce and tank hard. This core was a dissapointment and unlike us they got their pick so they can start to rebuild this summer.

Btw i always liked rondo. He always step up his game at playoffs or national tv regular season games.

Not that the Celtics were going to beat them but now the Heat have even easier path to the Finals.


with Rodno they could have taken 2 games maybe 3.

can celtics amnesty jeff green? they got him before new cba but they gave him a new contract last summer so dunno if he can be amnestied.

I don't think so. His new contract was signed after the CBA and amnesty only works with those contracts signed before it...

At least that was my understanding.

This really sucks for Rondo & the league.

Not sure about KG's contract, but assuming he plays next year....what if he gets traded to the Knicks? Or the Warriors? Or some other team on the cusp of being a contender?
