Report: DeMarcus Cousins: Max Extension Or Trade From Kings

^^I don't think anyone will "set Cousins straight" for more than a month or two at a time...... His behavior is habitual and has been present for a long time. Anyone trading for his is catching a falling knife IMO. He's got talent but the nickel head isn't going to change.

I was thinking the same thing....WTF. Didn't Cousins already run him off last year?

Those articles are a year old.

The Spurs would be one place where I think he would thrive. Pop wouldn't put up with any of his nonsense and there is structure to that franchise. Let's hope the Spurs don't jump in on this. They have enough young assets to entice the Kings.

it's possible you're dead-on about Cousins not being able to change, but I know this... The Celtics aren't the Kings. I don't feel like I even need to explain that comparison. Getting him to play in that environment would be one of the few chances for him to "figure it out"

The Cleveland Cavaliers, Charlotte Bobcats and Dallas Mavericks are three teams that have interest in trading for DeMarcus Cousins if the new ownership of the Sacramento Kings decide to part ways with their most valued asset, according to sources.

The Bobcats are motivated to turnaround their long rebuilding situation and would surely be willing to build a package for Cousins around the No. 4 pick.

Cousins would be 'Plan C' for the Mavericks if they are unable to sign either Chris Paul or Dwight Howard.

Cousins is entering the final season of his contract before reaching restricted free agency.

Considering I live in Charlotte, two things can happen if he comes here. One, he completely bombs because they don't have the culture in place to help a head case like him. He can turn an already struggling franchise even further into the ground, if that's even possible. Two, he actually becomes the egocentric leader he's destined to be because he has a city and team that is completely his own. The ball would be completely his and even though they'd still suck, he'd probably put up numbers and get a $80 million dollar contract. Think Amare Stoudemire in NY pre-Melo. He definitely has talent. But i'm afraid of everything else that comes with him.

Do not want the Cavs to pick him up. There are no real vets in that locker room to keep him in line and IMO it would be just like Sacto.

My surprise team to get Cousins would be OKC. They have picks and young players to get the job done.

I really can't stand Cousins. You'd be hard pressed to find a more immature star prospect in the game today. I really only see him thriving under Doc or Pop. He needs to be on a team that has an immensely respected coach who can mentor and not put up with his crap at the same time. He needs to be on a team that has a well established culture. And most importantly he needs to be surrounded by a roster of veteran leaders. None of these young teams have that. Not the Kings, not the Cavs, and not the Cats.

I'm not sure how you got to seeing him destined to be a leader of any kind. He's far worse than Melo, was at a similar age in maturity and having respect for others and authority...... And he's never fulfilled his destiny.

As I wrote earlier in this thread...... Kids got talent but he's got no clue otherwise. I'd be surprised if he's in the league in 3 or 4 years.

Report: DeMarcus Cousins Wants Max Extension Or Trade From Kings

Image

DeMarcus Cousins reportedly wants a maximum contract extension from the Sacramento Kings.

Cousins is eligible for an extension this summer, and his agent, Dan Fegan, is angling for a max offer with the threat of a trade demand if a deal isn't reached.

Barring an agreement, Fegan has instructed Cousins not to speak on anything relating to the Kings team, management or ownership.

Cousins declined to comment when asked about the Kings’ new ownership group, which is headed by Vivek Ranadive.

I cannot see the Kings giving a max contract to a guy they regularly suspend on their own.

There's not a single team in the league that will offer him a full max contract. Any team that does needs to just be disbanded.

Sadly I can see a few teams offering him the max. The Bucks would probably do it in a second, and then we'd have to hear their fans whining about how the league is so unfair for the next 7 years.

I just don't think so. He hasn't even shown legitimate max money talent consistently, let alone his attitude problems.

Cousins guaranteed will get the MAX>..he surely doesnt' deserve it now but some team will take a chance on his "talent"....thing is, with the right coach and right team, he COULD be worth it some day.... a coach like Doc Rivers could help him tremendously....

I really hope one of the big market teams with solid ownership doesn't nab him....he will be a beast in another environment.

most talented young big in the game.

It's not exactly like Sacramento has a strong culture in place to help him grow and mature.
