No mention of ACL, MCL, so that's "good" news, right?

^^Also no mention of how severe the tear is. That injury can be anything from 6 weeks to 6 months depending on how severe it is. They will be removing the torn parts as well..... that's never a good thing long term. Unfortunately.... I know.

Torn meniscus is one of those injuries that could be relatively minor or severe, depending on the location and severity of the tear. But if they have to operate and shave/trim the meniscus it seems like sooner or later the knee will become progressively worse and arthritic.

Meniscus tears are not uncommon in BBall, that's for sure.

Well depends on how it looks:

Couple ways to deal with a meniscus tear. Take it out, you return faster but can shorten your career. Reattach it, miss maybe 4-6 months. - See more at: http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtop ... mD4ce.dpuf

He could be out for the rest of the season. What a blow to this franchise. And if that's the case he'll have a tough time coming back. Imagin sitting out almost 2 years. That's a hard thing to do even for an athletic freak that DRose is. Thibs kan keep this team easily in the top 4-6 in the east but man they can't catch a break. They should tank the season if he's not able to come back but knowing Thibs he won't do that.

Maybe there's a way to switch him with pringles :man11:

Typically a surgeon will examine the knee in surgery to decide if the mensicus can be reattached (better but long recovery) or just trimmed

Chicago Bulls superstar point guard Derrick Rose is out indefinitely because of torn cartilage in his right knee that will require surgery, the team said Saturday.

The former MVP has a medial meniscus tear. The timetable for his return was not immediately clear.

Rose had an MRI in Los Angeles on Saturday after he was injured the previous night at Portland.

The three-time All-Star sat out last season recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Now, it's his other knee that's injured.

The injury occurred in the third quarter against the Trail Blazers.

Rose lost his footing while trying to change direction to get back on defense when Nicolas Batum stole a pass from Joakim Noah and started the other way. Rose limped across the court and couldn't put any weight on his knee. After the Blazers scored, he came out of the game during a timeout.

It didn't appear there was any contact on the play. Rose was unable to return and was on crutches afterward. Rose will not accompany the Bulls for the remaining four games on their six-game trip.

Its the other knee but its still very concerning.

Man that is sad to hear.

If I'm a Bulls fan I can't help but think....

18.9 million, 20.1 million, 21.3 million

Amount of money he is owed the next 3 years.

Without his athleticism he'll be an average but extremely wealthy spot up shooter. Sucks for the Bulls.

Damn, can't believe he's out again ! The Eastern conference just become weaker and weaker, Lebron and the cHeats would have another year free ride to the NBA final again !

Damn shame for Rose, I really like his game and how much he cares about his city. It's also a damn shame how easy the path continues to be for the Heat year after year, LeBron faces no real competition whatsoever, I mean dang I thought MJ had some easy roads to the Finals, this is a different level.

Western Conference currently have 10 teams that above .500 record, while Eastern conference only have 3 teams above the .500 record !

The Eastern conference is such a joke and a disgrace ! :bang: :bang: :bang:

I feel terrible about this. He is one of my favorite non-Laker players. I was hoping to catch the Bulls when they come to the Staples Center, I wanted to see that freak-of-nature version of Rose. Seems unlikely now.
There are two teams that play in the Staples Center:
the LA Lakers and NBA Clippers.

I said it on page 1 now time for page 2.... When do they start calling D Rose injury prone or mr glass?
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Rose comes off as a standup person. Unfortunate for him...
Nor can the Lakers get blamed for always making the right decisions over decades. At some point its not just luck or "gamble", its superior management and superior ownership.

Too reckless as a player. In my opinion his elite days are behind him.

When was the last time a superstar came back at an elite level after missing 2 full seasons from injury?
