Rumors

Postby zetaw00d on Tue Jun 17, 2003 12:26 pm

Hey here are some rumors from fox!

Nets should bring KG to Jersey
New York Daily News
Daily News columnist Mitch Lawrence thinks that the Nets will try to swing a deal for Kevin Garnett this summer. Lawrence argues that swapping Dikembe Mutombo, Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson for Garnett would help convince Jason Kidd to re-sign with the Nets.

Has Kidd already packed bags for San Antonio?
New York Post
Jason Kidd may have played his last game with the Nets. Post columnist Peter Vecsey expects Kidd to sign with the Spurs along with either Rasho Nesterovic or P.J. Brown.

Payton may play for hometown team
Oakland Tribune
The Tribune's Jeff Faraudo reports that the Warriors have a shot at bringing hometown boy Gary Payton back to Oakland. Payton's agent, Eric Goodwin, said that his client signing with the Warriors is "not by any means out of the question". Payton is apparently interested in signing with the Bucks, Lakers, Timberwolves, Trail Blazers or Warriors.

If all these rumors come true, the Lakers better pick up some more help!!!!!!

Yeah I heard these same rumors from HoopsHype.com but trust me they don't mean anything I checked the source and it is not backed by anything more than mere speculation. Rumors are simply a writers fantasy, KG to the Nets, give me a damn break.

How about June 26, the day of the draft. The lakers could easily swing a trade on draft day like they did last year.

I have expectations of mitch regarding both the draft and the free agent signing period. I will be as harsh as any writer on the planet if he falls short, and as ingratiating as any if he passes muster...

And in case you are wondering, YES I would be amazed if he were able to some how get those players with as little as we have to offer...that is why he would be GM of the CENTURY...

Yea i would agree with you. If he gets any of those combos then I hail him as the GM of the century!!! but here is another rumor to be watching out for.

From nypost.com

Even more interesting, but strictly in the stage of rumor, is a report floating around concerning Jason Kidd and a potential sign-and-trade with Sacramento.

Kidd, who all along said the Nets were his first choice in free agency, seemed to back off during the Finals and after the Nets were beaten by the Spurs, saying he would look at all options and it would take time for a decision. Now, there are whispers of a sign-and-trade of Kidd for Mike Bibby and Hedo Turkoglu.

Nets team president Rod Thorn is hopeful Kidd stays put

Actually, if I were the NETS, I'd take that deal! Both of those players are experienced in the Nets offense because they run the same style as the Kings...even deal if you ask me because Bibby is better late in the game and can give you more points...

Yea but JKidd is a better leader and better defender!!!!! Bibby, OMG!! One good series against the Lakers and he is a good pg and on the USA team over Francis and GP!! Bibby is smart, gotta give him his props for that. I would have cashed in also for that series, but watch him next season he will fall out!!!

If i were the nets, there is no way i'd trade Kidd for Bibby and Turkoglu. Kidd is a much better player overall. The only thing Bibby does better, is score, thats it. Turkoglu plays sf, so theres really no point of getting him. They already have a rising star in Jefferson.

I was looking at the results of the physical testing from the Chicago camp and saw some interesting prospects....

Troy Bell was the top overall athlete ( he had a 41 inch vertical leap ) &
( had 17 reps in the 185 bench press ) impressive for a point guard
Draft.net has him slotted at 32 to the Lakers (keep your fingers crossed boys an girls). Another top athlete who WILL NOT get drafted but is intriging is former Cincinnati center 6"10 Donal Little hewas kicked off the Bearcats during the season for some bizzar stuff, but had he not he could have been a first round pick. Travis Hasen finished in the top 10

whatcha guys think ?[/b]

What we need for our team is athleticism, defense and fundamentals, and we can get that With Travis Hansen. He is 6'6, so Phil will have no issues and he is the best overall combination of athleticism, defense and skill....and he should be available at the #32...

Travis Hasen would be nice assuming he is there at 32 but i would not mind Troy Bell at 32, we have been getting blasted by other teams point gaurds and a strong athletic 1 who can run and jump (41 inch vert) and can create his own shot wouldnt be the worst thing in the world to have, I mean our most pressing needs are Power Forward and Point Guard right

Take Travis Hansen and Troy Bell (24 and 32)
Sign PJ Brown & Scottie Pippen
package Horry and Kareem Rush to Van. for Stomile Swift

1 Fish / Troy Bell
2 Kobe / Travis Hansen
3 Scottie / D George / Travis Hansen
4 Stomile Swift / PJ Brown / Slava
5 Shaq / PJ Brown

Thats realistic for Mr Buss's cheap [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.]

That could mean the warriors or the Lakers, or the Kings...

I would do that too, except, after drafting Hansen and Bell, I would sign Howard and Posey and try to swing a trade Atlanta's way for JT...
