Why would anyone vote for Kobe for DPOY? I mean I think he's a good defender, but DPOY? no way.

Kobe getting a vote is just laughable. He's a great defender when he chooses to be, but it's not very often at all.

Agreed. Maybe in the past he could, but definitely not now.

I honestly don't think he's as bad as some people here puts him to be, though I also think he only tries his hardest on that end just a few games a year.

Kobe is still a good defender, sure. He's not a great defender anymore and he's not going to change many games defensively, although he is capable of it with this team.

I can see him making a bid for another All-Defensive selection, but even that... I don't know if he'll deserve it. He'll rarely play hard defensively in one-on-one situations. He's pretty disrespectful defensively to catch-and-shoot guys. He's capable of a lock-down possession still, but not really a lock-down game a la Metta World Peace.

I just don't see any chance at all of a DPOY out of the 3rd best defender on our team.

at Brown. Maybe he thinks the Lakers will win 70+ games and because of that, Brown will win by default?

As for Irving, he's definitely not an MVP, but I think he's going to be a top 20 player this season.
