JR Smith expects the Knicks to win the title

JR Smith expects the Knicks to win the title

Postby JSM on Mon Sep 10, 2012 9:26 pm

Marc Berman of the New York Post wrote:The Knicks want a ring and “nothing less,” according to JR Smith.

The mercurial guard said as much to NYPost.com at a fashion event this weekend. When asked what fans could expect from the Knicks this season, Smith said frankly, “a championship.”

“Nothing less,” Smith said. “If we settle for anything less, we already start off losing.”

The Knicks lost Jeremy Lin in the offseason, but have added Jason Kidd, Marcus Camby and Raymond Felton to the roster. Carmelo Anthony was integral in leading Team USA to the gold medal at the London Olympics and Amar’e Stoudemire spent some of the offseason working out with legendary former Rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon.

Smith also called out some of the top contending teams in the NBA in the interview, saying the Knicks will beat any of them.

“Lakers, Heat – whoever,” Smith said.

The Heat won the title last year and added Ray Allen, while the Lakers have brought in Steve Nash and Dwight Howard.

As long as the Knicks have Smith, though, they’ll be the league leaders in trash talk and eccentricity.

That's funny coming from a guy who has been shooting less than 40% for the last 3 years...

I'm no expert analyst, but personally I see them being a second round exit. So, I guess the confidence is nice for JR, but no.

Not even second round. First round fodder.

I actually think they're a better team than part year by a little bit. I don't see them getting such a low seed and being bounced in the first round this year.

He didn't really say they WILL win it but WANT to. Shrugs...rolls eyes.
Nor can the Lakers get blamed for always making the right decisions over decades. At some point its not just luck or "gamble", its superior management and superior ownership.

JR Smith is a clown. He'd fit right in with those misfits in New England.

And I expect JR Smith to act like his typical dumb arse self.
