In his Lakers tenure, Blake has never been a starter in a PG-dominant offensive system.

I love how every garbage player that gets hurt...after a few weeks everybody wants to see him back and already envision how he can help and so forth...

the truth is the following...Blake can't shoot consistently, can't drive, can't score, can't defend, doesn't have speed, athleticism, strength or leaping ability...there is nothing to work with, regardless of the system.

When has Blake ever shown signs of anything great that you want to see that particular ability to get unleashed? I really can't remember anything. Even guys like Jordan Farmar etc. showed glimpses of their abilities even while playing in the triangle. Blake has never ever shown anything. He has also never ever been a starter for any team for an extended period of time. A journey man that has struggled with consistency for his entire career.

A player that has career averages of 6.9 points and 3.9 assists, in 25 mpg and on 40% shooting. Those are raw facts and they suggest that he sucks. Most backups in the NBA easily give you those numbers when playing 25 mpg. Hell, even Darius Morris might give you that along with better defense and he is already considered dreadful offensively.

This is a factor , no doubt about it ..I think Blake could have Duhon like games assists wise with the same PT

His shortcomings on O are the same as Duhon ones though so when the opponent D doesn't overreact (rightfully so) to his penetration off the PNR , his lack of midrange game and ability to finish at the rim are a pb.

I wouldn't expect a huge boost, if any at all, going from Duhon to Blake for limited minutes at the backup PG

I'm not saying that D'antoni's system is going to turn Blake into a good player. I'm saying D'antoni's system and a starting role is the only reason Duhon looked decent. In actuality, Duhon is terrible and we're seeing that now that he's playing with the bench. Yes, Blake sucks. I'm not disputing that. I just think he'll suck slightly less than Duhon.

I still prefer Duhon to Blake as backup PG to Nash. He's less hesitant to shoot the open three and he's very in control out there as far as running the offense. Blake is a better defender though. Duhon's D, especially his help D has been kind of rough. Even with that said, I'd rather stick with him. Moot point right now obviously.

Well, watched the replay of game 7 vs Denver, Steve Blake scored 5/5 3pt & a stretch where he scored 5 straight points to bring us back in the 4th.

If he's not totally rusty, that's exactly what's going to happen.

true but at least Pau earned his money at some point during his contract here, Walton/Blake pretty much been hot garbage since the day they signed theirs.

Setback for Blake

Steve Blake is recovering from abdominal surgery and now he has another issue to deal with. According to The Orange County Register, the point guard is feeling pain in a muscle close to his groin and that is limiting his movement.

"We're in a holding pattern now,"said Lakers' team doctor Steve Lombardo. "Hypothetically, if he doesn't get better ... (doctors) will access whether anything further needs to be done to this other muscle that was a lesser part of the problem when it began."

According to the report, Blake will meet with a hernia specialist soon to determine a proper remedy for the pain. There remains no timeline for his return to the active roster.

Just how worthless has this signing been? There is ALWAYS something going on with him. Always.

Players get injured. I realize this is a frustration on top of his frustratingly bad play that preceded, but this particular setback is just bad luck. I feel for the guy. Lord knows he wants to get a crack at producing in D'Antoni's system.

^^^Walton seemed to have alot of those bad luck injuries, odd considering neither him nor Blake are getting these injuries from playing.

Well, we can move his contract during the summer. Let him take the time to get healthy this season & trade him.

Its not just this injury....

Its the set back, the spike strip, the rib injury, the chicken pox, the crappy play....

His whole tenure here has been an overall disappointment.
