I wonder if Mike D'Antoni would want to bring him back to his coaching staff.

That's pretty surprising as I always thought he was a good coach. I wouldn't mind having him as an assistant, but we don't really have the room.

Classic move of ownership trying to appease fans and show them they're "working on improving" the team because they have a bad record.

That team was gonna suck regardless of who the head coach was. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see how Gentry was the problem.

i dont get this fire at all... were they expecting the suns to be more successful or what..

Teams with mediocre rosters firing their coaches always makes me laugh, no coach can make a great team out of one with no great players.

I don't get it. But he will probably receive a call from MDA eventually.

Still remembered few years ago Alvin Gentry leads his Phoenix Suns team to the WCF by beating and sweeping Popovich Spurs team 4-0, something that Mike D'Antoni Suns teams couldn't and never able to do it before that.

not gentry's fault. the players flat out suck

he coached the team all the way to the WCF in 2010, not much else he could have done with the roster he was given

I living in the Phoenix area these days.... and the ownership is taking a lot of heat for this season and this move. There is a growing group of people (media, City leaders, fans etc.) that want new ownership..... not just new players and coaches.

It will be interesting to see what happens. Suns tickets are pretty cheap right now...

I like Alvin. I don't know that he's a great coach, but he's an alright one. He took that raggedy group of Suns to the Conference Finals against us way back when.

He'll probably end up here over the summer.

If we're going to keep MDA, bring him in and get young players who can play modern, fast, athletic basketball.

I made it through a driving thunderstorm at midnight when it was still 101 degrees last August....... I think I'll be ok....

I thought the suns were doing ok with what they have.

seems like a good guy but a mediocre coach. we love those, sign him up!
