Wow, what a great article Snakell, I absolutly love it.

Anyways, I really have mixed feelings on your thoughts about "King James."

First off, you said that you don't know the future, well your right. But does a shoe contract deal think about his skill level now, or his work ethic? Think about it. Maybe Anthony has a stronger work ethic than James, I agree with you and I would draft Anthony.

I also believe every columnist, writer, analyzer, and person who thinks James will come right in, with Cleavland, first off bond properly to the cast, and turn that team around is just living in the "hype".

My my!!! Great article! I loved how u summed it up at the end. Nike took a gamble at an unproven teen, and sooner or later the consequences will come, whether bad or good. They had a chance at signing the great proven star in Kobe, but because of the hype in Bron, they chose him. This sux for Kobe fans, but good things happen to those who wait, and Kob's doin just that. Yea, let's see how well Bron handles the pressure that Cleveland or any team that picks him up gives him... Carmello is gonna be a better assest cuz he has college ball experience, and went all the way.

And no, Nike (and other shoe companies) obviously don't care for the future all that much, otherwise they would have signed Kobe at the drop of a hat, the guy might be going into his 8th season, but at 24 (25 in a few months) I guess they felt he is a bit too long in th tooth....he's not 3 anymore...I guess he made the mistake of proving himself...

Kobe's Nike endoresement deal will be roughly 40 mil over 5 years...a solid deal and fair. I think Kobe's street cred is what keeps him from getting the huge contracts. LeBron is still an unknown commodity and sometimes we pay more for those...plus he has more all around appeal because he is young (18) and has both street and NBA cred when he plays in Cleveland...but I would have given LeBron 70 mil and Kobe 70 mil...that is me tho...

If I had my druthers, I'd go with Anthony.
There are so many "out of highschool the next great thing" guys that fade away. It's amazing how much they are gambling on this unproven high school player.
It's like high school in general. You leave highschool with a 4.5 GPA, all honors this and that, only to get to college and find out that the place is chock full of highschool phenoms that can't keep pace with the college rigors.
It's already a tremendous leap from the college ranks to the pros, imagine the leap that yet another highschool baller will have to make.
When I was in Highscool, the season was about 20 games, with tournements around Christmas, etc.
From 20 games a season, travelling by bus, to 82 games a year travelling by plane, changing time zones, sleeping in hotels ( I have trouble sleeping in hotels, too many unsual noises), being hounded by the press, and probably a thousand other new things to deal with, in addition to playing ball at a pro level !
At least Kobe was more prepared as he travelled with his family internationally.
I hope James is up to the task. But for now, I doubt it.

Well the leap is def. a large one. But I think James can prove everyone that he is ready. His body is def. a matured one.

The thing is, if Cleavland makes him a franchise player, they will be great. But who knows, he could be traded on draft day to another team. Don't count Cleavland to hold James... yet...
