The meaning of 'talent'

The meaning of 'talent'

Postby rydjorker121 on Thu Aug 21, 2003 9:33 am

Jeff Van Gundy said:
"See, every team in the league, they all utter the same thing, `We have a lot of talent.' It's true. Every team has a lot of talent. What separates talent from winning and losing is how hard they're willing to work, how much they're willing to sacrifice to win, to go above and beyond, to play through little hurts, nicks, sprains, bumps and bruises ... accept scoring less and winning, or do you want to average more and lose. There are so many things.

"Players are right. There is a lot of talent on every team. Because of how close the talent between teams is, so much, much more goes into winning than being talented.

"The culture and environment you create is paramount to winning."

Very Well Said.

I've never been completely sold on Van Gundy as a top Coach ... but he's always been an intelligent guy.

i agree completely

i think he's way overpaid and will never lead an NBA team to a championship... he'd be a great asset to have on the bench though

Well, the top 5 teams in the NBA are.

Lakers, Spurs, Mavs, Kings and Wolves. They all have talent but, only 2 of those teams know how to win!!!

the the HELL are you going to compare this years Wolves to last years?

they added Khandi man
they added Sprewell
they added Cassell

Nets only added a C that hasnt played in 2 seasons and theyre #1 scorer wants to leave town

if you think the Nets would crack top 5 in the west, you're on crack

If every team were in the same division, these would be my top 5:

1. Lakers (4 HOFS, great upgrades, a decent bench and great talent)
2. Spurs (got a whole mass of "little" talent and upgraded quietly)
3. Kings (Still good; C-Web, Peja and the starters are still there)
4. Timberwolves (really great offseason helping their starting lineup)
5. Pistons/Nets (tie) (It's a tie, since the Pistons really did something with Bob Sura, Darko and Elden) (The Nets got Alonzo and still have Kidd, although fierce comps. looms in the west)

The nets are solid and i think they hafto be in the top 5! Its kinda hard to choose between the mavs, wolves and nets for that 5th spot. But u gotta include the nets in that top 5, and if they went to the west i think the would still be in the top 4...c'mon they beat the lakers TWICE last year and they didnt even have Deke to guard Shaq!

Ok sorry HERE is the top 5:

Lakers, Spurs, Wolves, Kings and Mavs/Nets(its a tie)

The Mavs are good in offense, but defense counts the most when winning games

'Sides, I don't like Mark Cuban....

If you can out score the other team, you win right????

The Mavs team philosophy is out score the other team and run and gun!! Its fun in video games!!!! Dallas will not win the west, but they are fun to watch!!

Defense counts in close games!!!
