He does seem distracted by personal issues going on though. Getting catfished by gay man, getting a couple of groupies preggo, etc etc

Imo that's not an excuse. Plenty athletes experienced off the court hysteria but still manage to be productive or even better. Mentally the Pacers are still very young and inexperienced.

Well..... Looking at the OP's original post and the follow ups when George was putting up great stats and how he has finished the season..... Anyone still think he's a MVP?

His play down the stretch has been below his play most of the rest of the year..... It's crunch time and he's fading a bit. To me that's more important than where his stats compare with someone else's in a meaningless contest for an award.

Maybe he'll turn it around in the playoffs and separate himself....

More like the fall of George. I was also convinced he would be a great player but he has disappointed. He's got all the raw tools but his game has not come together for months now. And this is just another example of why you need a go to guy or superstar in basketball to do great things. George was supposed to be that guy. The guy who can carry the load when the team needs it. He hasn't done so and his team has suffered. I still think that he has the tools to be a top 15 player but he obviously has to improve tremendously.

I don't have an opinion on Paul George, but 22-7-4-2 steals and his defense at 23 is special.

Overhyped. We thought is was the rise of PG, but it was premature. :man12:

3 years of work and improvement don't get negated with 3 months of bad basketball. That's a little shortsighted IMO.

^^He's not regressing Doc..... just not the MVP/Superstar the OP noted he was. Take my comments in the context of the OP's and you'll see where I'm at.

George puts up some great stats but has yet to learn how to fully play the game IMO. He may or may not take the next step. It's mental right now.

My comments were more in general and not really directed at anyone. He was playing like an MVP candidate early in the season, but much like it is for almost all young stars forced into the alpha role at a young age, consistency is the biggest obstacle.

He's only 23, he's taking his lumps right now for sure, but I'd be willing to be he bounces back come playoff time and it won't be the "The Fall of Paul George".

I like the guys game but he's got a ways to go. I hope he gets it straightened out and does well when it counts the most. Guys that can do that are getting scarce.

Something funny must've happened in the locker room.

This team can't be burned out after 2/3 a season.

Now that their season is almost complete I think it's clear he's not #1 material. Your team won't win as long as Paul George is your best player. The comparisons to Pippen (a lot of them by me) seem ambitious now. I think Paul would be a great #2 on a Championship team though.

I' d like to see him in an offense where the ball moves and surrounded with better shooting ... like the Warriors

Well crap then!

If he played like this all the time, I wouldn't call him out. I still think he's a #2 though and that could be the story of his career. Put him on a team with Durant and I think you're talking Dynasty.

I do agree he might be in the Pippen area. Pippen was kinda too good to be a #2, and he proved he could be a great #1 when Jordan was not there, but still, he was not going going to be the best #1 in the league ever, and he ended up being one of the best #2 guys in NBA history.

Was enjoying this Team USA scrimmage, until Paul George broke his damn leg. Never, ever want to see that in sports, absolutely horrible.

Gruesome injury. Just horrible.
