If talks progress and no other teams jump in, trade would likely have to feature Ray Felton going to Toronto with at least one more player

We need to sneak in and steal Lowry.

Why why why is Toronto doing this? What does Felton have to do with any of their "future plans".

Is it because Lowry is on his last year of his contract and want a cheaper, longer option with Felton?

Do they still need financial flexibility? :man1:

This one's a head scratcher.

But kudos to New York for trying to improve I suppose. Too little too late, but kudos.

Lowry isn't a part of the Raptors future, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was a Laker next year. The Knicks are going to have to pay for Lowry though. He's a solid player, and the Knicks have no leverage. Masai is a pretty crafty guy though, and if there isn't a good deal for him, he won't take it. I assume the Knicks 2018 first is in the mix, as is Shump, and Hardaway.

Personally, I wouldn't touch Shumpert, and his bad knees. Hardaway is a mediocre prospect as well. The Knicks don't exactly have a lot to offer besides their first rounder 5 years from now.

^I don't want either of those scrubs on the roster next year. No reason to take on bad contracts when he's available next summer.

Maybe if they threw in a first...

despite what we saw with howard, the current team has a big advantage with FAs. if you can lock them up via trade, you're better off. kobe's extension kinda put the kibosh on a big summer in FA anyway. fields' deal would be up the following year, when the market might be better and nash's deal could be gone.

still doesn't solve how la gets the outgoing salaries to work.

Alright hold onto your butts.

New York out: Carmelo Anthony/Iman Shumpert
New York in: Demar Derozan/Landry Fields/Jordan Hill/Jodie Meeks

Toronto out: Demar Derozan/Kyle Lowry/Amir Johnson/Landry Fields
Toronto in: Pau Gasol/Steve Nash/Iman Shumpert

Lakers out: Pau Gasol/Steve Nash
Lakers in: Carmelo Anthony/Kyle Lowry/Amir Johnson

Oh yeah.

^Toronto gets absolutely fleeced in that proposal. Masai is too smart for that one. Derozen isn't as bad as advertized(He's not Rudy Gay), and taking both Nash and Pau with only Iman freaking Shumpert coming back would be an asinine move. Shumpert is so overrated it's not even funny. He has significant health issues, and those aside, he's a 1D role player at best. Derozen has more value than Shumpert at this point and IMO Toronto holds onto him for the time being.

No….. we would be the one stuck with signing Melo to a year longer Max deal….. essentially killing any chance of building anything around he and Kobe. We'd essentially be the Knicks except without the pieces to trade….
