Webber out even longer -- To Be Suspended...

Postby Lakers Dynasty 2000 on Sun Feb 15, 2004 5:01 pm

Chris Webber will be suspended at least six games by the NBA for lying to a federal grand jury, it was learned Saturday, a strong penalty that comes as a response to what one league official called "horrendous" actions by the Kings forward.

The exact length of the discipline is not known, but an announcement could be made within days, as soon as Webber is activated after spending the first 50 games on the injured list while recovering from knee surgery.

I read that today, and couldn't help but laugh. As soon as he is able to come back and play, he won't be able to because he is going to have to sit out 6+ games from a suspension. That's funny stuff right there.

What are the herrendous actions i wonder. Craig Saer said during the All Star game that it was something other than the whole lying to a grand jury thing, but niether the league or CW would comment. Its prolly something but id just like ot know the specifics.

i dont really believe that horrendous actions include lying (even to a grand jury, wow...a "grand" in front of hte jury...they must be extra special) is worthy of 6 games...if that is the case...Kobe may be banned for life if he pleads to a lesser charge...

Clinton was nearly kicked out of office for lying in front of a grand jury, its considered a very serious thing.

I actually heard on ESPN that he could be suspended up to eight games...but who cares?...That is the Kings problem, and they've been cruising well without Webber, trying to hang on to catch the top record along with the Pacers as of yet...seriously in all due thought the team doesn't need Webber, sure he may only play up to 24 games this season with the pending suspension (Webber was activated today) and now the suspension is probably underway, but trust me, the Kings don't need Webber with their huge lineup...there were talks about trading Webber in some areas, that he might ruin chemistry when he came back (talks about trading him for a pro shooting guard--Doug is getting old)

It is being reported that he is being suspended for the lying but also for a violation of the league's substance abuse policy.

Tisk, Tisk, Chris.

More good news about Webber, He FAILED a drug test and 3-4 more games will be added to the games he'll miss.

He might be out 8 games.

excellent news...how about Brad Miller? He actually had the decency to injure himself in the ALL-STAR GAME and there's no timetable for his return...how about witnessing a Kings implosion at this point :man10:

Yea Miller sprained his right foot, Bobby Jackson is out with abdominal strains, and you know about Webber. I still feel confident playing and winning the next couple games without these guys
