Ibaka kept firing even though he was missing badly. Randolph was laying off sensing that his counterpart was getting frustrated. On the other side, Ibaka could not contain Z-Bo's "old man" game. Randolph would just jump into his chest negating the space for the shot block but has the dexterity and touch to kiss it off the glass. Martin had only one good game in this series I think.

Let's give credit to Tony Allen too. Love his defensive game where he can cover spots 1 to 3. Chris Paul in the first round then moving over to Durant. He was undersized but just hounded Durant into misses and made him work to get his shot off.

indeed...lets give credit to Tony Allen by offering the free agent a contract

^I was not aware that Allen is an impending free agent? I know that after 2008 the Lakers tried to entice him from where he was.
Nor can the Lakers get blamed for always making the right decisions over decades. At some point its not just luck or "gamble", its superior management and superior ownership.

Perkins is a waste of a roster spot. He has 3 more years on his contract. He's going to get amnestied. They need somebody down low that can operate from the block. There was a deal that was mentioned around the trade deadline; Gortat was included from Phoenix. I forgot the exact deal. However, even a Gortat would help that team & give them more then Ibaka and Perkins offensively.

Ibaka is the poster child for "Fantasy Defense". Gets blocks on rotations/gambles but isn't that good on the guy in front of him. He creates a ton of offensive rebound opportunities for opposing teams by leaving his man constantly chasing blocks.

Offensively he owe about 70% of his current salary to Durant, Westbrook and Harden..... when he's NEEDED to bring it on that end he obviously doesn't have it....

The've spent a lot of money on Perkins and Ibake that they should have given Harden instead.

I hope you're right but I doubt it. I would give anything to see the Heats get swept.

That's why I was surprised when they didn't amnesty Perkins in order to sign Harden. It made absolutely no sense to me.

^^^ Hell they could of picked up Birdman to play Center for them and they would be better off.

+2. Been rooting for them since we got knocked out.

I jokingly said I wanted a Pacers vs. Grizz finals. The dream is still alive!

^I thought OKC's moves in relation to Perkins and securing Ibaka were to counter the huge Laker frontline of Bynum, Gasol and Odom at the time. Thunder brass figured it would loom large over the West for a number of seasons. They went with that formula to maintain success. Of course, they did not forsee age and erosion to come sooner for us.

The threat is still somewhat there with Dwight/Pau, but it's too bad Pau forgot how to play inspired basketball.

Exactly the reason why they acquired Perk, it was no doubt to counter us.

But the Ibaka extension was more to do with money and value over anything else. Perk might be the worst offensive relative player in the NBA and is completely useless in this small ball area of the NBA.

I love how people say oh they should of signed Harden long term instead of keeping Ibaka; in a perfect world they would have signed Harden but lost all cap space available to improve the team for the future. Harden chased the money and being "the guy" over the rings, OKC IMO made the right move with Ibaka (a non ball dominant forward/big guy) giving them size and defense.

I guess it's easy for people to say now they could of used Harden, what were they thinking, and so forth, but no one foresaw the injury to Westbrook. Bottom line is IMO.. a healthy Westbrook, the Thunder returned to the Finals again.

I like Harden a lot, I think he needs to evolve his game because when he is unable to reach the FT line, he is basically completely taken out of the game. If the calls are not comin', he comes a chuckin', which is never a good solution for a long sustained run in the this league.

Man I would freakin love that, mostly because Stern and the league would absolutely hate it.

yeah, I said it when they signed ibaka--I thought it might cost them harden, and I thought it was the wrong choice. both guys completely wilted in the 2012 finals, but harden is simply more talented. he costs, what, 3 million more per year? you can find shotblockers for cheaper. ibaka couldn't make Houston pay for playing carlos delfino at pf. that's damning.

Tayshaun Prince was on that team and this one as well.

And if my Pacers can't get it done the Grizzlies are who I want to win it all I'm rooting for them coming out of the West.

They have two Indiana products.. and I guess Manning too since he's part owner.

Go Grizzlies! Beat the Heat! I like their team. I like Z Bo because he wanted to put a whuppin on frown face, moving pick every time Perkins and said that he (Zack) didn't "bluff" and was "good with his hands". I'd love me some Mike Conley on the Lakers. I like their team D and I like Marc because he's Pau's brother and was a Laker for a short while. By the way....has anyone heard any of the media saying anything now about how the Memphis trade giving us Pau maybe wasn't so one sided after all? I haven't. Of course not.
