What a crazy game!

There were like 4-5 different moments where I thought "that's probably it, I don't think GS/SAS can take it" and then bam another big shot or dumb mistake..

Curry's 3rd Q was insane, but it all went to hell when he let Jack handle the ball and overdribble it for like 18 seconds like 6 straight possessions.. Also, he went away from using screens to get open or find open guys and starting going ISO on Kawhi... Not a great idea.
Thompson's ejection was HUGE too.
The Spurs made big shots (Green, Leonard, Diaw, and of course Manu's GW), but they also made some dumb mistakes, JUST like GS.

Manu's just a winner. Dude has insane confidence. Granted, he almost killed his team with that terrible long-range 3 he hit, and he missed a lot of shots before that, but you just knew that last one was going in. Never got down.

Weird, exciting game. Warriors need a gameplan to close out games, need a couple of go-to plays, preach clock management, stop forcing passes, go simpler.. Freelance basketball is nice, but you can't play that way up 6 with a couple of minutes to go. Jackson needs to show us more in terms of coaching those situations. That's twice in a row that his team has made mistake after mistake late in the 4th. Ain't beating the Spurs if you can't close them out.

I don't understand why you would play a player the entire game.

Thibs did it with Butler, but he's not handling the ball, setting the table and coming off screens to score everytime down the floor. Plus, Thibs had no bodies to really rotate and put on Bron. I"m sure when Deng gets back, that changes.

Meanwhile we saw what happened to Kob and now compare it to what kid Curry just went through...these guys will get gassed and then their jumper doesn't fall and their defense goes to ish...and they're just hurting the team. I don't understand it..

I think Leonard's D on Curry down the stretch isn't getting enough credit. He did a great job of not allowing him to get a shot off and was able to stick with him through all the screens. His ball denial on Curry was pretty impressive as well.

^^^Yep...I definitely agree...Pop made that adjustment.

Coaching completely affected this game...make no mistake about it. One guy gassed his players, while the other guy made the proper adjustments.

I agree. If GS goes to Curry and puts him in PnR with Landry or Green or whoever instead of Jack dribbling it for a long time and going ISO, they win this game..
Curry also needs to DEMAND the ball, it's not just Jack's fault that Curry took like 1 shot during the entire Spurs' run.

It's true that Jack has often been quite effective for GS as the primary ball handler and using Curry as a 2-guard, but it just wasn't working at all, and Steph had been amazing in screen and roll all game... His shooting and passing were phenomenal, and he had other guys hitting shots, so it would probably work very well.
It's on Jackson, it's on Jack, but it's also on Curry.

Credit Pop for putting Leonard, a great ball-denier and 1 on 1 defender on Curry late in the game (he fouled Curry on that last play though)

Yeah Pop reminds me a lot of "Dan" too in that regard, with the great adjustments in defensive strategy in game and between games. "Well I wanted them to pressure more but they wanted to trap and it worked out well for us" Paraphrased.

So after choking in the 4th quarter , you still managed to get the lead with 3 seconds left in the 2nd OT but you terribly blew a defensive coverage ?

All GS had to do here was playing 1 on 1 defense ... the odds of a SAS player having enough in the tank to make a contested shot were below 5%... how can you leave Ginobili wide open on an inbound play ? ... not even reacting to a dribble penetration , an INBOUND PLAY ...

Warriors have matchup advantages all over the floor .. it won't matter though as they are too inexperienced and stupid to finish the job ...

Klay fouling out changed the game ... his size greatly bothered Parker ... who went off with Klay on the bench .

As for SAS , they badly need Splitter back to anchor the paint when Duncan sits ... the Blair-Bonner experience won't be repeated I guess :man10:

Diaw cut to the basket ... Jack who initially was on him , didn't follow him and wanted to help on Parker coming off the screen but Barnes was right there ... Number 20 of GS who was initially on Ginobili had to prevent Diaw to have a layup so he rightfully rotated ... Manu open .

The question is why the hell was Jack on the floor , matching up against Diaw .. Bogut should have been on the floor

I turned it off with gs up 16 and the refs blowing a foul call on a Thompson drive (james harden would have been shooting 5). I didn't have a good feeling for the dubs. just way too much bonehead in that squad. spurs will still have their hands full because gs is a more talented team than they are.

Yeah ... Jack was also the primary reason GS almost blew Game 6 ... pb is Jack is more of a scorer than a PG who can organize and settle a team down when needed ... same for Curry ( even if he really can pass the ball) ... both are turning the ball over at a crazy rate in these playoffs .

I agree with Vasashi... Curry needs to rest ... there were a lot of possessions he was looking tired and looking at Jack dribbling on the weakside without moving

Would love to see Gordon or Bledsoe on this team next year... good, solid back PG... Curry can't play that many minutes & be as explosive as he needs to be.

Blame the loss on Curry hero antics at the end of regulation. He should of passed to the open man but instead took a dumb shot.

For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

They blew a 17pt lead and you're going to blame Curry for taking one bad shot?
Not to mention, one of the reasons they weren't scoring late was because Jack was holding the ball and not finding Curry...

Their turnovers, predictable offense (mostly Jack's fault, not Curry...) and lack of defense were the problem..
They almost won the game on OT, but blew that lead too..
