Who doesn't deserve to be an All Star

Postby JSM on Fri Feb 06, 2004 11:52 pm

I was wondering who everyone thought should not be in this upcoming All Star game, it is rather obvious some quality guys got snubbed; guys like Payton, Marbury, Amare, Nash, Lebron, Melo, Finley, Marion, Randolph, Shareef, and Dampier...they could all make strong cases, saying they deserve to be on the team. Now who do you think should not me suiting up for the big game? And why?

I voted for Magloire-- and you should put Brand up on that list of deserving all-stars too...

Slava laughed at the suggestion his skills might be affected by the down time. "Are you kidding?" he said. "Basketball is like ball. It's all a circle."

BEST VIDEO EVER ... AND AND THE SECOND BEST.

I don't think any of those 6 guys deserve to be on the team and here's why:

Michael Redd-I know this guy has had a good year, but an all star year...I think not. Marbury, Shareef, and Lebron have all doe better. I don't even like Lebron, but to deny him an all star spot is absurd, it's disgracing him and disgracing the league to see Michael Redd in the game and not Bron.

Ron Artest-people don't watch the All Star game to see defense, and even thoguh he can score, he is a defensive specialist. This would be liek having Bowen in the All Star game.

Jamaal Magloire-the only reason he is in this game is-the league has a stupid rule that would have to have a backup center. They should let the team do whatever they want, if they want a small team, then let that be their choice, come on David don't suck all the fun out of this. Marbury or Lebron would easily have made it, if not for this ridiculous rule.

Andrei Kirilenko-why on earth would you have him on the Western team, seriously. He is as streaky as bad Windex and as exciting as watching the history channel. If he didn't have Jerry Sloan telling him what to do, then he would be averaging 5 & 5 a game, I would rather have Sloan out there. I want to know is how can you pick Kirilenko over Payton, Finley, Marion, Randolph, Amare, Dampier, or even Nash.

Ray Allen-this is the dumbest move ever. When he was picked, he hadn't even played 20 games this season. I think that is a rule, good old David needs to look into establishing for the ALl Star game-to play you got to have played at least 25-30 games. Allen got hurt again tonight, and I hope it prevents him from playing in the All Star game, so someone who has worked their butt off this year, giving it all they got for their team can play (cough...Payton...cough).

Peja Stojakovic
-no one wants to see a shooter in the game, that is why they have the shootout. Would you have wanted to see Steve Kerr or Jeff Hornacek in the game...unlikely. I would rather see Ronald Murray in the game than Peja.

nice handle to all of those explanations, but sorry....they don't really buy into my philosophy...first of all, PEJA does deserve to be in the all-star game, c'mon for christssake hes putting on a shooting show in both the three point contest and now in the All-star game...and hes averaging over 20 points shooting 48% FGs, 42% arc and just outstanding from the stripe...every All-star game needs its pure strokes and this guy is just a marvelous talent, coming from Serbia, and hes really done it all for Sacramento leading them to a good record without C-Webb....and it'll probably be exciting seeing swishes and open pure shots for Peja since no one ever defends in the all-star game...And I have to disagree on Andrei Kirilenko, his offensive skills may be erratic for sure but this guy has proven that he can score with Matt Harpring out for Utah, and he is putting on a defensive clinic all by himself with those outrageously long spider arms that block shots, change shots and steal balls...he is really a hassle on both ends of the courts...you've got to give him at least those props for an overachieving Jazz team...and it'll be good to finally see guys play defense in the All-star game, he might be the x-factor for us beating the East..and Ron Artest is undoubtedly a qualified All-star, what makes you think he is not really concerns me...but he is, even if he can't shoot and is a selfish balljacker doesn't really mean nothing, his intensity and ferociousness and both sides of the court that he brings out there is already qualified, and hes helped Indy get the best record in the league...so he really deserves the honor along with Jermaine O'Neal...The only ones that seem questionable are Michael Redd, Jamaal Magloire and Ray Allen...I would've loved to see Marcus Camby in the all-star game, you're talking about a rebounding machine and defensive stalwort for the West (the West's Big Ben) but because of Brad Miller, he won't be there....Ray Allen is not necessary with Peja, whos better so it seems redundant, Michael Redd is a mere scorer and nothing else and Jamaal Magloire is just young and that must attract the fans, for this guy averages less than 15 pts. a game....and hes not the best defending center in the world....

there are many people who should've been it; Zach Randolph, Shawn Marion even is producing great stats...and don't forget Erick Dampier was even given consideration for his better work ethics this year...and don't forget Marcus Camby
