WTF is wrong with tha Magic?

Postby FabFourLakers on Sun Nov 09, 2003 3:47 pm

They won their first game in spectacular fashion, comin back from down 10 and winnin in OT on tha road...

But theyve lost SIX STRAIGHT SINCE!! and T-Mac hasnt been so good either...in fact hes been terrible...

What is wrong with this team? they were supposed to be good this year? u think they can turn it around in time before its too late? Im tellin u doc rivers better get a win or his job is in serious jeopardy...

Theyve played good teams, but they havent faced teams like tha Lakers, Spurs, Mavs, Kings, Blazers or Suns yet, they've only faced tha Twolves, and got smacked around...and they have yet to win a home game! IN FACT, after their first game on tha road, they had FIVE GAMES AT HOME STRAIGHT, and lost all 5 of them! and then they lost at houston last night, and then they have one more home game til they go on a west coast road trip where they face teams like tha jazz(who have played surprisingly well) kings and suns...and not to mention tha nuggs and clips...

This team could start this season 1-12 if they lose tha next 6 games...

any thots or insights on why thay are doin so bad? is it T-Mac? is it tha lack of a good point guard? shoudl they have kept darrell? Are Juwan and Drew capable of helpin T-Mac on offense?

The problem is T-Mac is playing awful. He has to put up big numbers for them to win. He has to average close to 28-29 points a game. Howard and Gooden can help get rebounds and maybe 10 or so each a game. But they can't lead the team anywhere.

Another problem is Grant Hill is using up too much of their money that they could use to get a good free agent to help them, instead they have to pay him to sit in a suit at the end of the bench and not play. He needs to stop being selfish, do what's best for the team and retire already, I know he might love the game, but his playing days are over...if he really loves the game then he will retire from the Magic, and ask to become an assistant coach for them or something.

Here's who they have starting: (this is another reason why they are facing difficulties)

Howard
Gooden
Garrity
T-Mac
Lue

Howard should be a PF, they are going to have major problems guarding teams that have big men. Gooden should be Howard's back up, this would give them depth. Garrity shouldn't be starting, but has to because of injuries, and Hill is stealing all their money that they could use on a good SF. T-Mac is the only person that should be staring or should be staring in that position. Lue should be a 2nd string pg, that's where he thrives.

So this season or next summer they really need to look for a starter at the following positions: C, SF, PG....if they got someone to fill each of those positions then they could be a serious contender for the finals, until then they are stuck in the first, maybe second round of the playoffs.

If they signed a few of the remaining free agents, then they could be a lot better this season.
Rod Strickland-would give them a good starting pg, and would improve their bench by allowing Lue to come off it
A. Mason, Caffey, or Oakley-they would be a good power forward addition to a team that lacks decent big men
Cherokee Parks-could play center for them
Walt Williams or DerMarr Johnson-a small forward that plays...what a concept, either of these guys would be an improvement of what they now have
Isaiah Rider-last I check this guy could still score, something ORL will need a lot of this year, if they could over look his attitude and problems he brings, then he could be a very good addition

if they needed an SF, why didnt they sign Jim Jackson or Stephen Jackson when they were available?

Orlando needs to get rid of Hill PLAIN AND SIMPLE....can u believe they traded BEN WALLACE AND CHUCKY ATKINS(A great center and a decent point guard) for Grant Hill? Back then we all prolly thot Magic got a steal...but now? Imagine Ben Wallace Juwan Howard Drew Gooden Tracy Mcgrady and Chucky Atkins as ur starting lineup...

They're expecting for T-Mac to be a one man team. Which isn't the case. He's lookin too shoot too much, and get that drive to win like the 1st game of the season. Because of him the game went into OT.

He needs help down there in Orlando. Grant Hill needs to retire so they can get capspace to sign someone who can take pressure off T-Mac.

Several things that have jinxed the Magic for years, and esp. now....
1) Really, REALLY dumbass trades and drafts over the last, well, several years - mostly b/c they were.....
2) Obsessed with trying to create 'cap space' to land Tim Duncan for too long, and passing up on other F.A.'s in the meantime.
3) Grant Hill. Love ya man, but face it...it just IS NOT meant to be. Hang it up already and let the Magic get back some $ to sign some damn free agents.
4) T-Mac cannot handle zone D. Look at the Minny game...he looked more lost than Gilligan. Other teams have picked up on this and will continue to do so all year until he proves them wrong.
5) Doc Rivers' time has passed. He just does not know how to solve Problem #4, and it shows....as a result T-Mac and co. have simply tuned him out.
6) Letting D. A. go. He might have been getting older but he was the true heart and soul of this team, and a crowd fave. Think they don't miss him?....

End result? Look for this Doc to be packing his bags...soon.

the single most obvious reason is tmac's big [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.] mouth yelling out his weakness to the world.

it could be that their dissapointing series loss to the pistons is stil haunting them. AND TMac needz to stop complainin bout the zone and JUST play. last season he was the league's leading scorer and i didn't hear him complainin bout it then so why start now? --itz UR game TMAC not the zone--

T- Mac is so overrated

Postby payparrish68 on Thu Nov 13, 2003 10:10 am

:mad1:

Orlando suck!!!! T- Mac is shooting 38.1 percent from the field....Yea and they got slapped around by KG and the New Wolves. He went 5- 20 against them...in the last five games he is averaging 1 steal per game and 4 assist. This season, Doc Rivers will be on the hot seat while GH chill at the crib....I am not sure...but they got rid of Mike Miller...and Armstrong (perhaps FA) yet, both are balling this year. If you think Kobe is a glutant, check out the Magic on the League Pass and you will see a real HOG. How in the hell can you complain about the ZONE....oops he didn't go to college. Nonetheless, A real baller can play....NO COMPLAINING, NO EXPLAINING....PP

Boo hoo for the Magic. They knew Grant Hill was hurt but they didn't care, they took a risk and they got burned. I recall Doc Rivers didn't want to let Ben go. But the Pistons got one of the biggest steals in NBA history. Thanks Orlando and Grant!
