Do you root for any other teams?

Do you root for any other teams?

Postby TylerCaviar on Wed Jul 17, 2013 10:50 am

I saw a post which made me want to see everyone's opinion. I am glued to the Lakers and not one other team brings the same kind of joy and heartache whether they won or lost. But if you had a gun to my head I would say I don't mind watching the Knicks win. I found myself rooting for them in the 1999 Finals vs the team that swept us in the last game at the Forum! I liked that teams excitement and Latrell Sprewell could ball. I dont go Knicks forums and follow their free agency unless its on ESPN's site..

I don't mind watching them win but I don't give a rats [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.] if they lose. If the Lakers lose, I'm crying while listening to 'Tragos de Amargo Licor' with a bottle of 1800.

What do you guys think?
The Lakers are my drug of choice.

Only times I root for other teams is when I'm watching a non Laker game on ABC/ESPN/TNT, and I strongly dislike one of the teams. Or in the East playoffs when I'm rooting for teams to take out other teams I don't like or are a threat to us in the Finals, and in the West when I'm rooting for the lower seed to win to make it easier on us if we're in still, but I'm never truly rooting for a team like I would the Lakers in that I don't care nearly as much if that team loses. I rooted for that underdog Knicks team in '99 as well, and in this decade I find myself rooting for the Bulls more than any other East team, I've liked their players, and I've liked their style or play.

I don't mind seeing the Knicks win. I did root for the John Starks era Knicks teams in the 90's, except for when they play us of course. Also by default any team that plays against the evil empire becomes my 2nd favorite team as well.

Every other team I'm indifferent towards and I dislike the Spurs and I have a seething never ended hatred for those guys.

I don't root for other teams as much as I root for other players.
There are two teams that play in the Staples Center:
the LA Lakers and NBA Clippers.

i don't root for other teams, but i'll root for games.

like on espn/tnt/abc i'll want certain teams to win depending on whos playing. there are alot of good players and teams around the league, my allegiance is to one team but that doesn't mean i can't enjoy good basketball.

plus, it allows you to view the game more objectively.

Each year it's someone different for me... Last season I started getting into both Memphis & Indiana mid way through the season... Even went to a couple Clipper games just to see IND & MEM.

Not if they're playing the Lakers, but otherwise I have a ton of respect for the Spurs organization.

Laker and Basketball fan here. I enjoy watching just about any pro-basketball but I only care whether the Lakers win or lose.

I can appreciate any good game with skilled and fundamental play..... which is why last year was so hard for me given the first sentence......

I'm strictly Lakers for the most part. I can't ever really get into another team...it just feels wrong to me.

The only time I ever root for another team is A) When they are playing against another team I really don't like, or B)When the Lakers are already out of the playoffs.

Only if I want them to beat Miami, I watch all basketball games as a die hard b-ball fan, but when it's time for a team to take it all, Laker fan forever.

Yep. Whoever is playing the Miami Heat.

I don't watch much of other teams. I enjoy watching a handful of other players who don't wear Lakers colors (...yet :man9: ), so if they're on national TV then I'll try to catch some of their marquee games. My favorite non-Laker is D-Rose and one of my favorite coaches is Thibs, so I'll catch the Bulls if they're on and it doesn't conflict with anything else on. This year I'll probably watch some more of the Knicks in order to see MWP since Ron was my second favorite Laker on the squad.

Root for? No.

I will hope a team wins if it benifits the Lakers. I enjoy watching certain teams lose and getting that good Doomsday from their fans. Celtics, Heat, Blazers, Kings and now Houston come to mind.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

I only root for the Lakers.

But I do enjoy basketball in general, and I like watching GSW, the Spurs, Memphis, and the Pacers.

As I believe everyone is here, I'm a Lakers fan 100%. I will always root first for the Lakers, and I'll never be as happy/depressed by winning/lossing, but I do admit I do follow the Pacers in the East.

I was a fan of Reggie Miller (except for the 2000 finals, of course) and because of that I began to kinda like that team. Now I really love what the Pacers are doing with a VERY solid defense and with Paul George, who's getting better and better, taking command (that said, considering his last quotes, I'd love if he comes to the Lakers). Also, it's kind of a stupid reason, but I like their colors.

Thing is, even if I do like Indiana, the excitement I get from that team it's not even remotely close to what I get from watching the Lakers.
