Fair enough, but you're also getting strictly his side of things. When have we ever shown in the past that we have a quick hook as a staff? Banning anyone is a last resort.

All I'm doing is reacting. You can't expect me to just smile and go 'oh well that's that, sucks for GCMD' when I first learn that he's banned. I liked the guy, he was a buddy of mine on the site, a great poster, of course I'm gonna say it sucks and maybe vent a little. Doesn't mean I'm gonna go on a rampage and start campaigning to get him unbanned and causing dissentions and stuff, I just said what was on my mind, I was upset, can you really blame me?

for those that think we have poor moderating here at the CL, take a trip to some mysterious OTHER LAKERS SITE (totalitarianism) or a place like sherdog, where the inmates run the asylum. I too will miss both posters but i cant say that i now question the mods and admins here...

I've already said I was upset and simply venting. I know that it's the mods jobs to do things like this. This is a personal issue and that's why I said what I said, I liked GCMD. Had just CB been banned I'd have been fine with it because I couldnt' stand that guy, but that's my personal tastes maybe some couldn't stand GCMD. So does one vent when one of your favorite guys goes down unexpectedly condemn a man? I sure hope not.

I've frequented both of the sites you mentioned I know exactly what you mean. I think the staff here does a great job of giving people plenty of freedom while at the same time maintaining order.

As far as CB goes... The guy made personal attacks on me on more than one occasion so I can't say im surprised.

The mods are right about being leniant. Besides the extremely strict cursing rules this place is pretty lenient. I was just banned from RealGM after 6 months of making good peaceful conversation because they found out it was me on my old account that got banned. And you always hear horror stories of people leaving LG after getting banned for no reason.

I suppose if those guys were banned there must have been a good reason. I ask why it couldn't have been say a 1 month suspension or something? Banned for eternity seems kind of extreme for somethng that only the mods realized happened? I mean if it was that bad wouldn't the members have known what it was? Like posting porn on Lakers discussion or calling someone a flaming arse or something like 20 times?

This really sucks. I understand why the mods feel they had to ban them, but it still feels like your two best friends having a fight and you don't want to take sides.

I liked GCMD. He could get a bit chippy at times but I wish it didn't come to this.

Mods and GC if your reading this, I hope in a month or two you may be able to talk to each other and come to an arrangement so GC can come back.

If the staff lets GC come back... they also need to let all the previous banned members come back. We can't have separate rules for every member on here.

I don't know if GC has another account, he told me that if he got banned then he would just be done with it because he didn't want to be here if they didn't want him here or something like that.

Haha yeah, they contributed a lot and they definitely came strong, maybe too strong at times, with their takes on things. They'll be back, they always find a way.

I still didn't get an answer and I feel like I won't get one.

I seriously doubt that CL earned anything with that action - the net gain is negative without a doubt.

As for the quick hook and double standard - please, I've been here longer then most and seen certain members behave in a way that would get them banned if their user name was different.

A very tough loss for the CL. Oh well. LG's profit, I guess.

There are actually quite a few previously banned members that the mods let come back because they behaved themselves.

But the ones who come back and immediately do the same things just get kicked out permanently it would seem.

Cant say im surprised. I liked GC and CB as they both has unique views, but they were both pretty arogant and condescending to members. I'm sure you guys warned them plenty. Its too bad tho because they both were very smart and had good analysis, but yeah they were pretty mean at times

Both of the banned members had interesting takes, but I'm good with the staff's decision. I saw more than one occasion where site rules were openly disregarded, and the staff was actually too lenient IMHO.

The site guidelines are clear, fair, and necessary. I appreciate the commitment to enforce them even when they apply to members with post counts in the thousands.

It's a tough job for the mods. I did like GCMD and CB, but they did get a little combative at times and did take personal shots at people (never at me that I recall). I don't know how many warnings they got, but being someone who has never gotten one, I can tell you that if I ever get one, it will put me on high alert. If they got SEVERAL, then they really have no one to blame but themselves.

Man I really enjoyed doc's posts I felt he was one of the most knowledgeable people on here about basketball and I read all his posts it hurts me to see him leave. Sure I know he was confident in what he did and a bit rude but I never saw him personally attack anyone. Just take little jabs with no name calling at the max. I'm really really gonna miss reading his posts. :man5:

i think he got banned immediately after he left the comments he did...

not saying that's the only reason, but i think it was the straw that broke the camels back.

CB had 4 warnings and a lengthy suspension. GC was a buddy of mine as well and we are/were cool. But I can't make double standard when deciding with the staff.

GC had his warnings as well (I dunno how many tho at the top of my head) but he was talked to via PM as well.

People might think we do ban people for fun...the truth is its neither intriguing nor in our interest to lose members. One of the reasons why CL has so many members and is so successful is that we have allowed every opinion here. As I said its not about the opinion, its the way you express it and what you intend. Thats why trolls for example get banned, not because they say something but because they intend to annoy the members

CameCock was a good member in terms of contribution, no doubt about it that he was part of the site and took pride in his posts. I actually like that but at the same time you have to have the ability to agree to disagree.

Posting on CL isn't about owning other members or win battles...we are a community that wants to share they thoughts and share they joy or anger...its a hobby and we come to CL to actually ENJOY the stay here...

GC deserved to be banned, thank god the mods had the galls to get rid of him. He'd make proposals which had no basis in reality and would attack users when they bashed the idea. The way he treated Vash was terrible.

CB, i never noticed his personal baiting a lot but i do admit i didn't read many of his posts on CL. He posts on LG now and real gm and he seems to be respectful person. I guess he takes up arms when LO is being bashed.

Weak. GC was a staple here at CL. It's not that I don't believe y'all but I have a hard time believing there was NOTHING else you could do and this was your only choice (to ban him). Should they get special treatment b/c they're long-time posters? Yeah, imo they should. Why? B/c they're not trolls or noobs coming here and causing problems. They're passionate about what they say/do and sometimes that can go overboard, but time off is better than being banned. This is like the Kobe tech situation. He plays with a lot of passion. Look at him tonight. He's like the freakin Terminator. No emotion whatsoever. You can't expect every1 on CL to act like angels. We have a lot of different personalities here. Isn't this board's motto "Come strong"?????
