I keep getting logged out

I keep getting logged out when I'm logged in and close the CL tab or go to another website that the CL was on. I'm using firefox. It happenned all day. Anyway to fix this?

I had the same ish happening to me on another machine, no idea why.

I did notice it started happening after the last crash, not sure if it's related.

I'm also looking for a solution to this problem. I get logged out whenever I spend too much time working on a post, I hate being forced to retype. :mad1: Please help us out mods, thanks.

i was going to post this here... but saw this.

it seems if i am inactive for 3-5 minutes it logs me out it is really annoying.

Maybe your cookies are being cleared automatically somehow?

That might be it. I've changed the cookie settings in my Firefox browser. Thanks for the advice.

You shouldn't have to retype, use the back button to go back to what you wrote after you log in, or open the login screen in another tab.

As a temporary solution, you can also keep refreshing pages or clicking links and opening them in other tabs then closing them, the activity will prevent you from being logged out.

Thanks Satan, I'll try those things out. I also noticed that there's a save button alongside the preview and submit buttons, so that's another option. I'd better wrap this up before I get logged out. :man10:

When you have a complaint like this, could you please let us know what browser you're using, and please try the quick fixes like clearing cookies, etc., too? Thanks.

Sorry trodgers. I use Firefox 3.6. My cookies setting via Tools/Options is set to "Keep until: I close Firefox." My previous setting was set to "Keep until: they expire." Thanks.

This just happened to me on Google Chrome -- was making a post, stepped away and got logged out when I tried to preview it, I lost everything. Thankfully, I had saved what I was writing before.

This hasn't happened since a while ago on CL.

If it keeps happening, someone should forward it to clublakers@gmail.com

No problem. It's just that the more info we have, the easier it is to pinpoint the problem, I imagine.

Still been happening to me on all my pcs, not on my laptop though.

The two pcs I use to post most often on here, one is using XP Pro, one is using Vista. Both using Firefox's latest version.

Did you try hitting the back button after you were told you were logged out? I write many long posts and if I receive the message that I was logged out I simply hit the back button and my message is still there, so I can just copy and paste the contents for when I log back in. I use Firefox BTW, which may be important.

i hit the back button and for some reason it only had the other person i was quoting.
