As a temporary solution, you can also keep refreshing pages or clicking links and opening them in other tabs then closing them, the activity will prevent you from being logged out.

Sorry trodgers. I use Firefox 3.6. My cookies setting via Tools/Options is set to "Keep until: I close Firefox." My previous setting was set to "Keep until: they expire." Thanks.

Did you try hitting the back button after you were told you were logged out? I write many long posts and if I receive the message that I was logged out I simply hit the back button and my message is still there, so I can just copy and paste the contents for when I log back in. I use Firefox BTW, which may be important.
