As you probably have noticed, we recently upgraded our forum software and modified our site's design.
Note: Let's keep this thread for discussing the new features of the board. If you'd like to give us your feedback, please click here.New Forum FeaturesThere's plenty of new features, but here are
some of the ones that stand out:
Report post: report posts that violate CL rules or require staff review.Do you see something that detracts from your experience at ClubLakers? Simply hit the purple
! button at the top right of any particular post. All warnings are confidentially kept between yourself and the staff. Moderators will be able to sort through all these reports in an organized fashion and are able to respond to take action on the post and hand out warnings (if necessary). Your complaints won't go unheard and promote a quicker staff response time to forum issues.
Friend/Foe List: Ignore users or add them as friends. If you go to your User Control Panel (located at the top left of every forum page), you will notice the Friends & Foes tab. On the side, you can manage your Friends & Foes. Friends are users you'd like to have easy access to, in order to keep up with their posts & stay in contact. Foes are members you'd like to ignore. After adding a user, their posts will be excluded from any topic on the message board. Instead they will be minimized, with the option to display them on a post-by-post basis if you choose to. We felt that choice is a good thing for our user experience, so you are now able to choose who you want to interact with on the boards.
YouTube, MP3 & Flash: embed & place YouTube videos within your posts. You can now easily share your favorite YouTube videos, mp3 content and Flash media in the forums. Just take the video URL and put it inside the bbCode brackets that appear after clicking the gray "youtube", "mp3" and/or "Flash" buttons when posting.
Jump To Page: easy access to a specific page number in large threads.By popular request. Have you wanted to jump to a particular page in a large thread? Navigating through a 30 page thread page by page can be frustrating. Now you can speed things up a bit. If you click on the "Page x of X" (top right next to page #'s) link atop a topic, you can input the page # you would like to jump to.
Upload Attachments: upload files to include within your posts. When posting a new topic or reply, you will notice the purple "Upload attachment" tab below the text box. You can upload up to 256kb in your posts. This number is semi-adjustable within reason, but we would need your feedback.
Post Drafts: create drafts of your posts before submitting.Have you ever typed out a bunch of text only to accidentally lose it before posting? You won't have to worry about that anymore. You can save your drafts by clicking "Save" instead of "Submit." You'll be able to manage your drafts in the User Control Panel under "Overview." Click "Load draft" to resume posting in the desired forum.
Bookmark & Subscribe: bookmark & subscribe to your favorite topics. Also available in the "Overview" section of your User Control Panel is the ability to keep track of your favorite topics and receive updates on their status.
Custom Profile Fields: new ways to express yourself to our Lakers community. When clicking on your Profile in the User Control Panel, you'll already notice two new fields have been added-- one for your favorite Laker and one to let people know how long you've been down with the Lakeshow. We can add any custom field to be (optionally) displayed in our members' profiles. If you feel you've got a good idea for a custom profile field, share it.
There's a ton of more new features & preferences that can be accessed through your User Control Panel (top left). Please feel free to respond to some of the new features here or ask any questions you might have. Your fellow users likely will benefit from such discussions.
New Forum/Site DesignAs far as the forum/site design goes, it's all incredibly flexible and adjustable. If you're happy with it, we're happy with it. If you're not happy with it, we're not happy with it. Please let us know what you'd like to be adjusted with the site design.
