NEW FORUM!

Though I am the only one, i love the avi and other info on the right, and the only request i would make is a quick reply box at the bottom.

kind of not liking the change..but oh well

Everything looks weird, I love this board, but as of right now I don't like the new look at all. The avi's and user info on the side is just weird and everything looks jumbled and just like it's floating around, no order. I suppose I'll get used to it, but as of right now I'm missing the old look.

Why still the black layout :(

You're not the only one. I kind of like the avy's on the right.

I like for links to have a separate tab instead of having to press the "back" button.

Left-Avatars Coming Soon

Thanks for everyone's input so far.

I'm working on an optional template that will show the avatars on the left. The caching on this thing is driving me mad, it's very difficult to test on. Give me a day or two after work to figure out how to tweak the template to do this.

At that point everyone will be able to select their own template, which will place avatars on the left (old school) or right (new school).

I really liked the old visual lay out. not just avis on the right, but the color scheme and a few other small things.

also, it doesn't feel like CL without the faces on the post buttons.

however, as i said earlier, i am loving the new features that this has incorporated.

BDG has new buttons with faces on them... coming soon.

Looks tremendous. Nice to hear the user-info is going back to the left-hand side, though -- having it on the right was definitely confusing.

Clublakers, a couple of bugs I've noticed ...

1) User profiles are stretched out.
EXAMPLE: memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=2

2) Not sure if this is understandable, but when I click a topic or a forum section -- it goes straight to the bottom of the page of the page upon loading. Not sure what that issue is.

Other than that, loving it. Nice work.

one thing i just noticed that i love is the "online" banner on peoples avis. i think that is a great idea

hmmm...

1) those profiles stretch with the template... can you modify your screen size to make sure it's not something else abnormal?

2) When testing in IE I found that the scroll jumped very quickly to the bottom of the page. I typically use Firefox, and haven't found anything funny. Let's see if anyone else discovers that same thing...

Its going to take a while to get used to, but I like it. The only thing that's bothering me so far is that everytime I click to go to another forum/thread, it takes me to the bottom of the page automatically, which I dont get. But im sure it will get fixed.

can we get some sort of explanation why it was moved to the right instead?

that's what the majority of people here are crying about...

Will you add more color schemes we can choose from?
I'd personally prefer a brighter look. (At least for the background)

Other than that (plus the already mentioned avy-to-the-left fix), everything else looks great so far. Loving the youtube and mp3 embed features. "Friends and foes" is great as well.

Guess you completely missed CL's post on the previous page.

I think I now understand why the new layout looked kinda strange to me. And I'm not talking about the avatars on the right side. It's the combination of the black background and the bright individual posts. It looks like they are... well... floating on the background. It has no continuity. There is this dark space between them that just looks strange. If the posts were darker - or the background brighter - it would look better IMO.
Maybe I can get used to it, no biggie. It's good you're working on the "Left Side Avatars" feature.

Let's use the "list" feature now :

This. Totally.

Since my work includes design and usability issues, I can even explain why.

1. The rollover color change is a nice feature to have IF you allow the whole area that changes color be clickable. That way the user is not confused and doesn't have to search for the clickable item. However - in our case you can't make the whole area clickable instead of the text since there are several SEPARATE actions you can take - "last post", "new post", "page" etc. Deadlock.
2. The color distracts from the actual text to be read, the solution is usually the change in font's color as well as the background. Much like it's on the top tab buttons.


Overall I would have to say it's a disappointment. The new features are nice. The design is not.

OH. and that "feature", where you are not allowed to submit your post if there were new posts since you started is ANNOYING and is the best example of how NOT to design the flows on your site.

Haha... Man this is really gonna take sometime to get used to. I too don't like having to see everyone's name on the right side now, so used to the left side. O well just gonna have to deal with it I guess.

Thanks you so much for addressing #2 Air Kobe, I too can't stand that bug. Everytime I click on another page or submit my reply is goes straight to the botten. Please, we need this fixed.

Another thing - when clicking "View new posts" it shows a lot of threads that marked purple - read. It use to show only those you haven't visited yet.

Whoa, this will take some getting used to.

Here are my notes on my thoughts of the new version on CL:

• Can we get the user info on the left?
• How about a quick reply on the bottom?
• Maybe a spell check feature?
• Love the list feature!
• Would we know who are blocking us?
• Noticed a bug. In the Board Preferences of the User Control Panel that there were 3 templates (pro silver, CL Left, and CL Right) I am currently using CL Left and it doesn't change anything but stretch the page out totally.
• I don't care for the new logo.
• I love how if you are responding and someone posts in the mean time, when you submit your post there is a notice and of what was typed so you can modify your post as you'd like.
