New Rule

New Rule

Postby GWHiZiTSPHiL on Wed Aug 04, 2004 1:24 am

I suggest a new rule, threads about rumors should always be accompanied by a link. This way others will know that it is an actual rumor and not something you thought of at the top of your head. Also, it reduces the rediculous amount of crazy ideas in the rumor board that make absolutely no sense.

It's always been... Don't believe a rumor unless u see the link! If u see one without a link, then just disregard it

Right, trust the link or the source. Not all rumors will have links (most will), but it doesn't take long to figure out which members are credible and which live in fantasy land.

If we don't respond to false rumors the author will stop writing them.

I like the idea, but the fact is, a lot of rumors don't have links. Examples--if it was on ESPN, ESPN News, local radio, etc. I think if you have been a member at CL for a decent length of time, then you can tell how credible a member's rumors are and you can go by that on whether to put any belief in the rumor at hand.

Well, then again, you can't always have a link. What if it's breaking news on Sportscenter. theres no way to post a link. and if its true, someone else will post it later.

...and it is possible to hear through personal connections that something is going on. I get Dallas rumors because a friend of a friend of a friend plays golf with the coaching staff and players (or something like that).

If someone new comes in and shares inside information, we will only do ourselves a dis-service by requiring a link and running him/her out of town because they don't have one.

I think the mods do a decent job filtering and locking the pointless threads. If it is ridiculous, then lock it. Those of you replying to and arguing the stupid threads are just fanning the flames.
