Are you satisfied with the job of the Mods?

things that are important

activity / proactivity
unbiased opinion / decisions (fairness)
treatment of the members

again, we would greatly appreciate a comment...

1. whats the problem
2. how do the mods handle it currently
3. how would you want it to be done
4. general comments, critics, ideas...

take note please, we have just recently added 6 new moderators. So you can expect them to get only better if you are not very satisfied yet. But in order for us to GET BETTER, we need to know WHAT we should improve.

I can only speak for myself, and every time i had some problem with anything with a couple of PMs it was solved.

I think you guys have found a healthy balance in every hot topic, and that's not easy. It's great you allow people to speak their mind about everything, It's also great you have very low tolerance with trolls, baiting and topics that don't go anywhere.

The mods are doing a great job, and I'm sure they'll continue to do so.

5. Is clublakers "family friendly"? do you like our "limits" in terms of language, pictures, content?

I wish CL was less "family friendly," i.e., didn't have language filters, etc. Too conservative in that department, IMO.

6. Rate the level of "freedom of speech" on Clublakers? Do you feel "free" to express your opinon?

I'm against all forms of censorship, so I would say "ditch the language filters."

Other than the above, it's all good!

While I don't think profane language adds anything to an argument or statement that can't be expressed in "family friendly" terms, I do wonder about the "texting" equivalents? The filter would take out What the F_ _ _ K but WTF is completely acceptable. I don't see a difference. Everyone who comes here understands the acronym.

They are used many times in inflame already high tensions in several threads I've seen in my few months here. STFU, WTF and FU are used a lot here.

If the goal is truly to be "Family Friendly", the texting equivalents need to be filtered as well IMO.

Why not be more "public" with it? It would seem the pro-active approach would be better than "after the fact policing".

Still don't know why the acronyms get through and the words don't. Meaning is the same, everyone understands and interprets them the same why not treat them the same?

I disagree that the meaning is the same. The denotation may be the same, but the connotation is very different. It's like saying heck or hell. It's like saying son of a gun or son of b. It's like saying "Oh, fudge!" instead of the other one. Everyone knows exactly what you mean, but one is much more socially acceptable than the other because they carry different connotations. WTF is very informal, but it's so much a part of pop culture now that I'd wager most people on the Net don't read it as "What The F..." They read it, rather as, "WTF."

I thought the reason was to eliminate profanity or profane exchanges not just dirty words. It's socially acceptable if profanity is implied? Seems slippery to me.

This is kind of like the recent PC arguments about the re-definition of a re-defined word that now we can't use to say that something is dumb or stupid. The "popular culture" definition is now THE definition.

Amazing job guys! Especially the new batch of mods for keeping this place sane.

On a completely random note: is there a reason that tech central is accessable when we are not logged in, because i know the other sub forums (open court, media circut etc.) are not unless we log in?

Unbiased, honest opinion: I think some of the mods were much more active before they became mods. Are they busy behind the scenes? Or did they post a lot to become mods and then took off? Honest question, because I miss their activity.

^Hm? I don't think anyone even knew anyone was thinking about selecting new mods for CL.

I think life just happens and people don't have as much time as they use to.
