Signatures ONLY allowed to be used in Off-Topic Chatter

Postby Lakers Dynasty 2000 on Tue Jul 22, 2003 5:45 pm

I think, to make the board SMACK easier to read, we should only limit sig's to be on in the Off-Topic Chatter forum easily.

That way, post's will be easier to read, and people won't have ridicoulous sized images... Except in the Off-Topic Chatter.

What do you guys think?

I mean some images are redicoulously large. I don't think we should have them in the forums when discussing Laker / NBA issues.

But just in the Off Topic Chatter forum.

Why don't you just set a maximum sig size? And then you won't punish the members with responsible signature sizes.

That sounds good... But most members dont know about pixels, and all that... I think it should be a maximum height of 100 pixels, like our avatars... But a maximun length of 500 pixels, cuz most screens are 800x600

Ahh well, just a suggestion. I love the sigs my gf makes for me, and I think they're of a decent size, but you guys are the mods.

pltan, that is fine. But most people can't make custom ones if we did resize them.

It's the big ones that get quite annoying on some posts.

Nods understandable.....set a sig size that gives ample room, but yet doesn't allow big [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.] sigs. :)

I've never liked image signature images for all of the reasons LD2k gave. It makes for cluttered threads and slower loading times for modem users. I've held my opinion because I wanted to see how it developed.

Personally I think the avatar is enough to express yourself, and it doesn't take up additional room to the threads.

I don't have the ability to auto-restrict signature image sizes, but I don't have a problem if the moderators want to regulate a standard height and width requirement. 100x400 seems reasonable to me.

Ya'll work it out and let me know.

...and if ya'll have so much time to create these huge elaborate signatures then hook a brotha up and send me some clublakers wallpaper so we can update it weekly.

keep the image sigs okay, they're awesome and members like them, for i have my own forum w/ over 100 members and i make them all the time for them.

http://invisionfree.com/forums/The_Whit ... /index.php

all you have to do is limit the size of the signature.

Hey, I love my sig and want it to follow wherever I go! *hoping it's the right size*

I understand LDK and CL's position on this, but what about those members who never post in the Off-Topic Chatter forum? Their sig would never be posted if sigs were limited to that forum only.

Great point FirstLady, and don't worry, your sig is of appropriate size.

FirstLady, i agree with Ld2k on this. if they never post there then they wont ever see a sig. we dont need images to make the board slower. people come to smack, not look at art.

Yes but we like our members to express themselves Sig pics are fine if kept in line. Mine is probably too big but I intend to change it reguardless.
